The very first shot I took with my Graflex Speed Graphic 4x5 large format camera.
I was worrying so much that I might have not done something correctly I forgot to smile :)
The way I took this shot was I had a light stand setup that I focussed on and then removed it, stood in its place and used a cable release. The depth of field at f4.7 is so narrow on 4x5 that the focus point is actually on the graphic on my tshirt and not my face.
I can't wait to do some portraits of others with this where I can get the focus dead on using an 8x loupe on the ground glass.
I am just over the moon - 4x5 is going to be A LOT of fun !

This year I'm using a different film format each month, starting with the smallest and working my way up through the sizes. The format for September is 127 roll film which was introduced in 1912. Narrower than 120 film, it allowed for smaller more pocketable cameras to be made, perhaps most famously the Kodak VP (Vest Pocket) also known as the soldiers' camera because many of them were used during the First World War (1914-18).
This was taken using a Korelle 3x4cm camera, which dates to the 1930s.
The film is Shanghai GP3 ISO 100 black and white, developed in Rodinal 1:50 for 11 mins at 22 degrees.
