Ernie in a moment of pure joy. It was a very very warm day here mid 60's to 70's.. I headed out to the pond before noon due to incoming clouds. I took some cracked corn and sat on my spot. I felt like spring.. so wonderful a day!
After diving for fish, they surge out of the water and shake the water off. Usually happens in the first 4 or 5 seconds, which is a lifetime at 12 frames a sec. You can end up with 1000s of images, which of course you will have to delete to get the ones with the shake.

Looks like a cool wet week ahead. A possible freeze by the end of the week is in the forecast.
The Vets used a Diamond Burr to debride the ulcer on Etta's eye. It has been having treatment for almost 3 months so hopefully this will be the end of it! Etta loves the Vets but we could just visit for treats not for treatment!
The yellow dye is to make the ulcer more visible.
Shaking it Off
Reed cormorant shaking off the water after going fishing. Cormorants do not have the same level of waterproofing as most aquatic birds and thus have to spend a lot of time drying out their feathers between dives

I often get comments like "poor horses they must be cold in the snow." This is Nevaeh and she just took a roll in the snow and is now shaking the snow off. My best horse images have been in winter as it seems that's when they are the most active. They love the snow!
The dogs had a good dip in the creek. The beavers are building several dams along the stretch of trail we walk making some nice pools.

I see trees of green... red roses too
I see em bloom... for me and for you
And I think to myself... what a wonderful world.
I see skies of blue... clouds of white
Bright blessed days... dark sacred nights
And I think to myself ... what a wonderful world.
The colors of a rainbow... so pretty... in the sky
Are also on the faces... of people... going by
I see friends shaking hands... sayin… how do you do
They’re really sayin... I love you.
I hear babies cry... I watch them grow
They’ll learn much more... than Ill never know
And I think to myself... what a wonderful world
The colors of a rainbow... so pretty... in the sky
Are there on the faces... of people... going by
I see friends shaking hands... sayin... how do you do
They’re really sayin...
I ....love....you.
I hear babies cry...... I watch them grow
you know their gonna learn
A whole lot more than Ill never know)
And I think to myself .....what a wonderful world
Yes I think to myself .......what a wonderful world.

welcome to art class please take a seat.
never in my life have i been unhappy to go to art class.
until now.
why? there is no creativity involved. we read chapters from our book on what makes a piece of art "acceptable" and how all the elements work together harmoniously and hold happy hands in a field of flowers. a very black/and/white field of boringness. we study these elements, then we write up a nice 4 paragraph analysis on the piece. so very technical.
on to drawing portion! now let's all get out our rulers and measure our proportions just perfect. everything shall line up and become the 'perfect' piece of art. visually pleasing, but mindless. how nice. we draw hands. yes, hands. and still lifes of plastic fruit and wooden boxes. we must capture the entire scene not zone in on one section. no, no. abstract thinking is unacceptable.
value line harmony color texture movement rhythm perspective tone form shape despribe the art elements. repeat repeat repeat yet again.
i was about to blow my brains out during class today. i started talking to a wall. in my head. because it was more interesting.
all my creativity is being shot out from under me.

(IN THE BEGINNING)
The sun is a huntress young,
The sun is a red, red joy,
The sun is an indian girl,
Of the tribe of the Illinois.
(MID-MORNING)
The sun is a smouldering fire,
That creeps through the high gray plain,
And leaves not a bush of cloud
To blossom with flowers of rain.
(NOON)
The sun is a wounded deer,
That treads pale grass in the skies,
Shaking his golden horns,
Flashing his baleful eyes.
(SUNSET)
The sun is an eagle old,
There in the windless west.
Atop of the spirit-cliffs
He builds him a crimson nest.
