Osprey shakes off excess water after diving under the surface to catch the fish it has in its talons.

It's not an invisible placard, she was just shaking up her hair!

(IN THE BEGINNING)

The sun is a huntress young,

The sun is a red, red joy,

The sun is an indian girl,

Of the tribe of the Illinois.

(MID-MORNING)

The sun is a smouldering fire,

That creeps through the high gray plain,

And leaves not a bush of cloud

To blossom with flowers of rain.

(NOON)

The sun is a wounded deer,

That treads pale grass in the skies,

Shaking his golden horns,

Flashing his baleful eyes.

(SUNSET)

The sun is an eagle old,

There in the windless west.

Atop of the spirit-cliffs

He builds him a crimson nest.

This has been sitting on my kitchen table for a few days. Ordinatily I'd clear them away from there quicker, but my sons loves it, especially pretending to drink it up, it's super cute.

Great Blue Heron shaking just caught fish

I finally made it over to Coyote Hills yesterday with friends to get in on some of the action of the Peregrine Falcon whose beautiful images have been posted on Flickr for a couple weeks or so. Only briefly saw the adult at a distance (darn) but it appears this juvenile has taken over the dead tree it occupied...no problem...still a falcon.

There were several photographers when we arrived all waiting for him to bring a catch back to this tree...it didn't happen (again darn) but we were entertained by his frequent flights to and from this tree landing in different locations, some needing a lazer pruner to clear out the dead knarly branches (which has not been invented..again darn), but when he landed on this branch giving us a clear shot he decided to 'shake it off' and forget about the dinner he didn't catch!....thank you falcon!

This polar bear knows how to cool down in summer.

The Blue Herons cannot get enough fish and I cannot get enough Blue Herons.

I love a good wet dog shake but it's not always a good photo. This one I like :)

Daily Dog Challenge: Circle Back

Brown bear, Katmai NP

The morning after a little, "unnamed," snow storm last weekend that gave us more snow than the blizzard earlier this week. With so much snow on the branches of the trees it just seemed to keep snowing as the wind blew through creating magical vortexes of sparkling flakes. So beautiful. :)

My RDO (roster day off) today, so I headed to the doggie beach to try photographing dogs. I had fun, but the dogs had more fun!! Looks good in large:)

Pelican prepares for take off, but first she must shake that booty.

I found some really funny photos while watching through the pics I took yesterday in the wildlife park. Here we see a timber wolf shaking its fur.

After landing in the water, in an attempt to catch something, this Fish Eagle chose to sit on this stump, and dry off... He gave us quite a show, shaking the water out of his feathers, allowing us to drift closer and closer... Another magical encounter on the Chobe River...

I've not seen this before, he shook for a good 5 minutes, I thought he was unwell so I kept watching until he stopped shaking and jumped onto the peanut feeder and fed like there was nothing wrong. I wonder if he was just trying to warm up?

This plant wants to introduce itself. It is stretching its hand for you to shake yours. Will you present your hand for a shake?

Clearly, this plant is visiting our Globe from another planet It hasn't heard about the coronavirus yet.

But let us be serious here. I am proud to tell you that Saudi Arabia was among the first countries to fight the spread of the coronavirus. Read more about this here:
