Compositionally Challenged Holiday Buffet - Playing with Shadows
Hammered brass sconce lit with Christmas lights.
Another view of Moraine lake in the late afternoon, with the long shadows of the trees on the water … walking along the lakeshore, you quickly lose the crowds that throng the viewpoints and a sense of tranquility pervades.
***this is one of my two macro monday postings for the theme of "halfway point", since the shadows were at the noonish hour or the midpoint of the day.......... join us on monday if you have a neat macro picture that fits the theme!!

When I was in Switzerland 3 weeks ago, I lived on the outskirts of the city of Zurich, already half in the countryside, where I took a walk in the most beautiful sunshine and discovered this house. I was fascinated by the radiant shadow pattern.
This is Shadow. Five days ago, he was in a cage at a local rescue group, because he had been trapped at a colony, desexed, and then unable to be domesticated. Poor little guy was terrified. So they asked if I could try to work with him, since I used to care for feral colonies in Spain.
His progress is amazing. In just one day I was able to give him chin rubs, and every day he has made some giant leap in progress. (No, it hasn't come easily, I've spent lots and lots of time flat on the floor with my arm outstretched and my neck contorted because he was hiding in the far corner under the bed. Oh, and those squeezable treat tubes. Definitely those!)
Since Tuesday, he has been happy. He loves it when I spend time with him (he's in the spare room for the moment), and he has started to explore and play with toys. He loves chin rubs, he loves getting his back brushed with the curry comb, he purrs and he says hello when I come into the room.
There is still a long way to go.. but he's already making my heart sing 😊
