#296 Explored how amusing I must say.

Calm waters flow between numerous rounded rocks, creating a symmetrical and serene seascape under a slightly clouded sky. The horizon is softly lit by the setting or rising sun, blending colors of blue and pink.

The separation of the crow’s shadow from its body occurred at 08:04.0889 29-May-16. The installed sound level meter instruments did not register any changes during this event. Shadow and body re-united approximately 15 minutes later. It is suspected that this was a temporary separation at best without any long lasting effects on either body or shadow. No precautions regarding the workings of sundials need to be taken at this time although it is advised to be vigilant regarding their accuracy over the next few days. Please also note that while the separation was in effect, body and shadow seemed to reverse their color retaining properties with the body losing color and exhibiting only earthen tones while the shadow gained access to the full color spectrum. If I didn’t know better I’d say that this is pretty much impossible.

It goes without saying that this image is not a composite but a single image. No photoshopping trickery is employed. Our organization prides itself in witnessing and documenting nature’s most unusual phenomena. We do not resort to, nor support, falsifying photographic documentation of these events.

You may wonder why this groundbreaking discovery was not immediately posted and reported on. This was due to the fact that our technician charged with monitoring this location experienced some lightheadedness upon observing this phenomenon. (No partying involved). She was immediately rushed to the nearest medical facility where she was kept for twenty-four hour surveilling. She was released in good health but we decided that the site needed the additional installation of radiation dosimeters to ensure the ongoing safety of our team.

We have since revised our psychological requirements for prospective team members (existing members are grandfathered although job reassignments are a possibility) to include testing for excessive emotional displays of “feelings”.

Même s’il est heureux dans sa famille ,c’est terriblement douloureux de renoncer à quelqu’un ,auquel on s’est attaché….et on ne l’oublie jamais .…

Yes, it's another Cuddly Couple! The point was to show off Din's magnificent feathery collar, but I somehow dominated the scene nonetheless. No light without shadows, and it is the same for me with Din: he is an essential part of my existence, without which I would scatter and dissolve. When I am tired of shining, I can cloak myself in his darkness and rest.

Yet another division of property. I see that some green escaped to the other side. I have been finding all kinds of fences lately.

Happy Fence Friday.

Looking at life on my daily walk

Shot from the Staten Island Ferry on a cold, grey, windy, snowy day in March. 5-photo panorama stitched using Hugin. Big crop because I had a 24mm lens on and the subject was a long way off. Changed to black and white because, other than a very dull green on the Statue of Liberty, everything was truly shades of grey.

Separation. Displacement. Asunder.

A boundary. A union. A contradiction.

Diremptio is incongruity and antithesis, in agreement; two planes in the same space separated by form, shape, color, depth, meaning; each a stilled moment in its own time joined in common boundary by a contrary moment, like fingerprints on a window, unique, separate, together.

An ongoing series.

A Japanese fence gate called a "Mon".The fence surrounds the Japanese-Hill-Pond Garden. In a Japanese garden the fence has deep symbolism. The garden is seen as a world of its own,and the fence insulates and separates it from outside worldly cares and concerns. The fence shown here replaced the original designed by Takeo Shiota,an Japanese-American landscape architect in 1914,the same year the hill pond garden construction began--helpfulgardener.com

Moving away from automatic focus lenses to manual focus only lenses has taught me to be a better composer and a more methodical photographer. I no longer feel rushed.

I have been shooting my camera in fully Manual Mode for years now and it has become second nature and now manually focusing is teaching me the same as it becomes second nature. Maybe it is my age (68) or just continuing to learn photography. I like this new phase. Combining manual focus only lenses with a mirrorless camera body becomes a joy rather than a chore even at wide open apertures.

Today, almost a comic book written by the scenery of the street. Initially, I was going to call this photo "growing up", and finally I accepted the term "separation".
