"HOW STRANGE IS THIS COMBINATION OF PROXIMITY AND SEPARATION. THAT GROUND - SECONDS AWAY - THOUSANDS OF MILES AWAY."

Charles A. Lindbergh

In this case it's the complete disconnection of the primary and secondary clouds... LOL

This is just as I took it, no AI or heavy editing. I have never seen a cloud like this. It looks like they were pulled apart and after they split, they separated vertically.

The County Hotel and St John's Cathedral, Napier, Hawke's Bay, New Zealand

When the sky lights up at sunset I am always hoping to be in a position to make the most of it. Last night I found myself near the County Hotel, which was originally (up until 1987) occupied by the Hawke's Bay County Council, and St John's Cathedral.

So I set up on the edge of the road (well on the road actually) and fired off some long exposures as the colours raced across the sky. This is the result.

Perhaps it's just me anthropomorphising, but there seemed something emotional about the way these bicycles related to each other, a tenderness in the air between them, perhaps a longing... love unrequited, desire unfulfilled, or the delicious tension before a first kiss?

See where this picture was taken. [?]

A display of aurora borealis in the skies surrounding Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. I loved the shape of the aurora closest to me (this is a self-portrait); it looks like I was cut-out from the aurora.

My eyes fooled me very briefly about what I was seeing distantly in the canyon. It was due to the nature of the lighting...

Smoke Photo Art.

Explored 04/27/11. Two in three days.....Thanks for all the comments and Faves! - That's one way to suck me back in this. : )

On the way to creating this, several other smoke creations were made. This comes from the same smoke photo that produced Mother Nature, Heat Miser, and Snow Miser (among several others not posted). I'm not sure why some smoke photos yield so many options...is it the photo or just my state of mind at the time? You can see a bit of the original smoke photo in the exhaust of the top section of the "spaceship." Background courtesy of a NASA photo which I believe is fair use. Please inform me if that is incorrect.
