Which glasses should I choose for Smile on Saturday's "optical instruments" theme?
My first glasses I still have, or my last?
My most beautiful, or the ugliest?
The one I wanted sooo badly, that model that only fit me temporarily.
Or just the one with the failed glasses that I hardly ever wore.
They're all there, and more, and also the one we don't want to talk about because it has to do with the decline.
I just lumped them all together. Yes, also my good glasses I'm never that careful with my glasses.
And there it is, prominently in the foreground. My father's glasses. Last worn July 4, 1987. Carefully preserved by my mother all these years. Now that she has also passed away, I took the glasses with me before they were thrown away and I will keep them.
As I write this I wonder, why don't I have mother's glasses?
Het gaat allemaal om de herinneringen.
Welke bril ga ik kiezen voor het thema "optical instruments" van Smile on Saturday?
Mijn eerste bril die ik nog heb, of mijn laatste?
Mijn mooiste, of juist de lelijkste?
Die ene, die ik zooo graag hebben wilde, dat model dat mij maar tijdelijk bij mij gepast heeft.
Of juist die met de mislukte glazen die ik bijna nooit gedragen heb.
Ze liggen er allemaal, en nog meer en ook die ene waar we niet over praten willen, omdat die met de achteruitgang te maken heeft.
Ik heb ze allemaal maar op een hoop gegooid. Ja, ook mijn goeie bril ik ben nooit zo zuinig met mijn brillen.
En daar ligt ie dan, prominent op de voorgrond. De bril van mijn vader. Voor het laatst gedragen 4 juli 1987. Al die jaren zorgvuldig door mijn moedertje bewaard. Nu ook zij overleden is heb ik de bril meegenomen voor hij weggegooid zou worden en bewaar ik hem verder.
Terwijl ik dit schrijf verwonder ik me, waarom heb ik moeders bril dan niet?

It seeks to expose pro-Russian, anti-American, anti-Japanese, anti-Western, and racially discriminatory sentiments in China by translating government propaganda and anti-western public opinion found on the Chinese internet into other languages, including English, Japanese, and Korean. Through such a movement, the participants aim to invoke the conscience of the Chinese People.
I hope that western friends pay more attention to them.🙏

En premier plan, une femme seule est captivée par une conversation téléphonique. Sa posture montre une certaine tension dans son corps, peut-être une conversation importante ou émotionnelle.
En arrière-plan, une autre femme est assise sur un banc, de dos, regardant dans une direction opposée. Sa présence discrète accentue le sentiment de solitude et de distance. J’ai essayé de donner un aperçu de la vie quotidienne, du passage du temps et des émotions qui parcourent les personnes dans cet environnement serein mais parfois isolant.
In the foreground, a lone woman is captivated by a telephone conversation. Her posture shows some tension in her body, perhaps an important or emotional conversation.
In the background, another woman is seated on a bench, from behind, looking in the opposite direction. Its discreet presence accentuates the feeling of loneliness and distance. The bench seems both to be a refuge for the seated woman and a symbolic barrier between the two protagonists of the photo.
I tried to give an insight into daily life, the passage of time and the emotions that run through people in this serene but sometimes isolating environment.

Termo is a ghost town in Lassen County, California. It was located on the now abandoned Southern Pacific Railroad line 32 miles north-northeast of Susanville, at an elevation of 5305 feet. This town straddles U.S. Highway 395 north of Ravendale.
But in case you didn't already know this I present this shot as evidence that this sentiment is fact not mere opinion. This is arguably one of the most iconic photo locations in all of western railroading.
Looking west off of the I40 spur bridge in West Winslow at the sun setting behind the San Francisco peaks in Coconino National Forest as another in the endless parade of eastbound stack trans drops down the undulating profile of modern day BNSF's Seligman Sub near MP 287.9 on the former Atchison & Topeka Santa Fe Railway mainline.
