The Parthenon, a full-scale replica of the one in Athens, Greece, was built largely out of plaster as a temporary exhibit building (the Nashville pavilion of the 1897 Centennial Exposition). It was saved from demolition by public sentiment and the nickles and dimes of school children and tourists, thus preserving this symbol of Nashville as the "Athens of the South". In the 1920s the temporary plaster building was replaced with a permanent, concrete and steel incarnation, which remains today.

Termo is a ghost town in Lassen County, California. It was located on the now abandoned Southern Pacific Railroad line 32 miles north-northeast of Susanville, at an elevation of 5305 feet. This town straddles U.S. Highway 395 north of Ravendale.

Lorsque j'ai raconté à une amie que j'avais perdu le négatif et l'épreuve de cette photo qui me tient à cœur, elle m'a fait savoir qu'elle en avait une épreuve papier. Quand elle m'a fait parvenir cette copie, à ma surprise, le cadrage en était différent que celui de la numérisation que j'avais effectué d'un autre tirage.
When I told a friend that I had lost the negative and print of this photo that is is important to me, she told me she had a paper print of it. When she sent me this copy, to my surprise, it was cropped tighter than the scan I have of another print.
Fruit del sentiment catalanista de Pau Casals, sentiment confrontat amb els seguidors del franquisme, i d'una conferència a la seu de les Nacions Unides (I am a Catalan) on va interpretar aquesta cançó, El cant dels ocells ha esdevingut un símbol de pau i llibertat a arreu del món, però de manera significativa a Catalunya, on se sol usar per acomiadar als difunts el dia de l'enterrament i és considerada símbol nacional.
Pau Casals fou convidat a tocar en la presa de possessió del president J.F. Kennedy l'any 1961.[4] 50 anys després es va tornar a tocar la cançó a Washington DC amb la presència de la vídua de Casals, Marta Casals, rebent l'ovació dels més de 2.500 assistents
