'HARLEY DAVIDSON WORLD CHESTERFIELD' - TAKEN ON A PANASONIC LUMIX DMC-FX12 COMPACT CCD SENSOR CAMERA. - AUGUST 2024

Taken on a Gitzo tripod, in M/UP mode and with a Cable Release. Images were processed through Capture 1 as TIFF, opened in Photoshop where they were saved as JPEG's. The Full-Frame 80mp Images were downsized to be 17" across just like the Sensor+ 20mp images for Flickr. These images are in response to the Luminous Landscape Article Linked Here: www.luminous-landscape.com/forum/index.php?topic=59917.0

Learned this test from a friend of mine Mr. Wail A. T. Tarabzouni. Here is how you can test your sensor.

use a lens that can give you f22.

here are the steps.

1. put lens to f22

2. aperature mode for normal expsoure

3. defocus the focus in manual focus mode.

4. any wall with uniform color. wave your camera around it during exposure.

as you can see i have lot of spots on the sensor. next step ill be learning how to get that cleaned.

Then, put the cleaner head on the sensor to vertical gently to remove dust.

I was afraid to use it, but it worked great.

Monument Valley West & East Mittens Buttes Breaking Storm Clouds High Res McGucken Fine Art Photography Sunset! Epic Utah Desert Breaking Storm Stormclouds! American West! Monument Valley! Nikon D810 & 28-300mm Nikkor Zoom Lens!

I enjoyed photographing John Wayne Country & Monument Valley during a breaking thunderstorm with glorious dark clouds and storm clouds all around! Stormy weather always rocks! Also shot it all with the Nikon D810 and the wonderful Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G ED AF-S Nikkor Wide Angle Zoom Lens as well as the new Tamron Tamron AFA012N700 15-30 mm f/2.8-Di VC Wide-Angle Lens for Nikon F (FX) Cameras! Sony & Nikon are both epic!

I hope that you enjoy browsing through my photos and comparing and contrasting the Nikon D810, sony A7r, and the various lenses!

Long story short, you can't go wrong!

The Sony A7r and the Nikon D810 have the same sensor! While the D810 saves the RAW in 14bit lossless compressed (or uncompressed0, the A7r performs a bit of lossy compression, which I have never noticed, but which some say they have!

At any rate, I am super excited for the Nikon's next

camera as well as for the recently announced Sony Alpha a7RII Mirrorless Digital Camera! Some highlights include a 42 MP Full-Frame Exmor R BSI CMOS Sensor, a

BIONZ X Image Processor,

Internal UHD 4K Video & S-Log2 Gamma, and a

5-Axis SteadyShot INSIDE Stabilization system!

I'll be ordering mine for sure! And I have a feeling that Nikon will be releasing something epic soon--a 50mp+ camera with awesome dynamic range!

And important thing to remember is that even though pixel sizes keep getting smaller and smaller, the technology is advancing, so the smaller pixels are more efficient at collecting light. For instance, the Sony A7rII will be back-illuminated which allows more photons to hit the sensor. Semiconductor technology is always advancing, so the brilliant engineers are always improving the signal/noise ratio. Far higher pixel counts, as well as better dynamic ranger, are thus not only possible, but the future!

Yes I have a Ph.D. in physics! I worked on phototranistors and photodiodes as well as an artificial retina for the blind. :)

After looking through my work, what do you think about Nikon vs. Sony? Do you prefer the Nikon D810 and Nikkor / Tamron / Sigma lenses /glass, or the Sony A7r and Sony Sonnar Carl Zeiss e-mount glass/lenses? I love them both! And I am so excited about the Sony A7rII and its 42 megapixels with the Carl Zeiss glass !

more arduino hacking. I just wrote a 'driver' for this chip, today and now I can get C-degrees directly on the i2c bus. even better, I can connect 8 of these (varying the a0..a2 bits) and have 1 temp chip per heatsink! ;)

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness

Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun

Conspiring with him how to load and bless

With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;

To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees,

And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;

To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells

With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,

And still more, later flowers for the bees,

Until they think warm days will never cease,

For Summer has o'er-brimm'd their clammy cells. --To Autumn. by John Keats

One of the first published depictions of cyborgs:

“On the moon cyborgs unreel a cable to explosives for a seismic blast. On the front cyborg’s belt, tubes pump chemicals to his blood to control his blood pressure, pulse, energy, tranquility, blood sugar, body temperature, radiation tolerance. Pumps obey sensors like the radiation counter in his left thigh or blood-pressure gauge in his right thigh. His heart, in the X-ray view, sends blood to the implanted converter which remakes oxygen and carbon from carbon dioxide, taking the place of lungs. On the back of the other cyborg are a food supply, master fuel cell, food processor and wastes canister.” [Image description]

“Striding buoyantly across the low-gravity surface of the moon, there may someday be strange new men – part human, part machine – like the ones above. They will have a strange name: CYBORGS (for CYBernetic ORGanisms). Cyborgs, according to a daring new idea, will be men whose body organs and systems are automatically adjusted for life in unearthly environments by artificial organs and senses. Some of these devices will be attached, others implanted by surgery. With their aid cyborgs can dispense with clumsy, easy-to-puncture space suits in which earth conditions are re-created. Instead, they can move about safely wearing not much more than they would at home . . .” [Opening paragraph]

Fred Freeman (1907-1988) was a graphic artist who designed and illustrated books on naval history, space exploration and other subjects. He was a successful commercial artist in New York City from the late 1920's through the 30's, doing many illustrations and magazine covers for publications including The Saturday Evening Post and Collier's.

After serving in the United States Navy during World War II, he turned mainly to book design and illustration. He illustrated books on submarines and destroyers from World War II, for the United States Naval Institute. In 1956, with Theodore Roscoe, he designed the ''Picture History of the U.S. Navy,'' published by Charles Scribner's Sons. In 1960, he illustrated a children's book, ''First Men to the Moon,'' written by the scientist, Werner von Braun.

The TSL1401 line-scan image sensor chip, in 8-pin DIL package -- transparent of course.

This is an update of the previous picture. After a comment on the Eurobricks forum, this was pointed out to me. Now we see a light value between 0 and 100. the next byte is the color that was detected. So here 3 which corresponds to blue. This value is also shown when your Mindstorms program is active in the Mindstorms status screen on the top.

The sensors soldered up. Used ribbon cable.
