Day 7/365

WASHINGTON NC: An old building in the old city of Washington NC. Known affectionately as "Little Washington" by so many in North Carolina, the local residents are a bit sensitive about this nickname pointing out that Washington NC existed before Washington DC, or BIG Washington. Consequently, the townsfolk refer to their town as "The ORIGINAL Washington."

OK, I checked on the dates each city was founded. Sure enough, "Little Washington" was founded in 1776 while, uh, the other one was founded in 1790.

sitting in the boat between an immense heat that hit my body, a heavy breath, some flushed cheeks, and a damp skin were the result of my hot body, the rays fell on my hat that sheltered my face from a dazzling sun, and my hand let my fingers fall to the shore of the beach, walking it through the cold water to calm my revolutionized hormones and my unstoppable desires that broke all purity of my smile, and the brightness of my eyes so clear, they happened to show hidden nympho feelings. A divine punishment, and an infernal gift of always having a capricious appetite for a life full of lust from the time the sun goes down, until the same sun says goodbye from the same place.

This beauty of a wildflower is not very common in Wisconsin. I think most of the time it's found cultivated rather than in it's natural state.

That is true in this case.

A yellow, 5-parted, 3/4 to 1 1/4 inch wide flower. The flowers form several, many-flowered clusters.

Plant height: 3 to 6 feet tall.

Native

Likes a full to partial sun; moderate moisture to moist; sandy, loamy soil habitat in open woods, roadsides and streambanks.

Blooms July - Aug.

My best find to date!

This is a delayed post due to the fine line of it being a sensitive species. When I started even attempting to find one. I was going to be happy with a picture of an eyeball of one looking at me through millions of branches and pine needles. When I was presented with this opportunity a tidal wave of emotions and panic hit me like a freight train! I am so excited with this find, anyone that knows me. Knows, that I don't contain excitement at all! It has been a long week since finding the reason I got involved in birding! 2 years ago I had one take sanctuary in my backyard from mobbing crows and bluejays. That morning I was without the borrowed camera my Mom let me use from time to time. When I found out it was a big deal, I put forth the effort to purchase the camera and lens I currently never leave home without. With hopes of never missing an opportunity again. Please don't ask for a location. I don't like saying no, and I would never steer a friend in the wrong direction.

ENGLISH:

The Rundetaarn, or Rundetårn (Round Tower in English), is a 17th-century tower located in central Copenhagen, Denmark. One of the many architectural projects of Christian IV, it was built as an astronomical observatory. It is most noted for its equestrian staircase, a 7.5-turn helical corridor leading to the top, and for the expansive views it affords over Copenhagen.

The tower is part of the Trinitatis Complex which also provided the scholars of the time with a university chapel, the Trinitatis Church, and an academic library which was the first purpose-built facilities of the Copenhagen University Library which had been founded in 1482.

Today the Round Tower serves as an observation tower for expansive views of Copenhagen, a public astronomical observatory and a historical monument. At the same time the Library Hall, located above the church and only accessible along the tower's ramp, is an active cultural venue with both exhibitions and a busy concert schedule.

The Round Tower is a cylindrical tower built in masonry of alternating yellow and red bricks, the colours of the Oldenburgs. The bricks used were manufactured in the Netherlands and are of a hard-burned, slender type known as muffer or mopper. On the rear side, it is attached to the Trinitatis Church, but it has never served as a church tower.

Steenwinckel — whose name is otherwise synonymous with Dutch Renaissance architecture in Denmark — with the Trinitatis Complex has left his signature style. Unlike his other buildings with their lavish ornamentations and extravagant spires, the complex is built to a focused and restrained design. Hans van Steenwinckel must have been up on the situation in Holland, cogniziant that the style which he had once learned from Hendrick de Keyser had been altogether abandoned.

The architects now setting the agenda in the Netherlands, masters such as Jacob van Kampen (Amsterdam City Hall), Pieter Post (Mauritshuis in the Hague) and Philip Vingboons, now favoured a style characterized by sobriety and restraint. It is now known as Dutch Baroque or sometimes Dutch Classicism. Its proponents often relied on the theoretical works such as those of Palladio and of Jacopo Barozzi da Vignola. Steenwinckel may have paid a visit to his native Netherlands prior to his change in style but it will have been too early for him to have seen any of the period's buildings realized.

Instead of stairs, a 7.5-turn spiral ramp forms the only access way to the towertop observatory as well as the Library Hall and the Bell-Ringer's Loft, both located above the church. The ramp turns 7.5 times around the hollow masonry core of the tower before reaching the observation deck and observatory at the top, on the way also affording access to the Library Hall as well as the Ringer's Loft. This design was chosen to allow a horse and carriage to reach the library, moving books in and out of the library as well as transporting heavy and sensitive instruments to the observatory.

The winding corridor has a length of 210 m, climbing 3.74 m per turn. Along the outer wall the corridor has a length of 257.5 m and a grade of 10%, while along the wall of the inner core the corridor is only 85.5 m long but has a grade of 33%.

The observation deck is located 34.8 m above street level. Along the edge of the platform runs a wrought-iron lattice made in 1643 by Kaspar Fincke, Court Artist in metalwork. In the latticework, Christian IV's monogram and the letters RFP are seen, the letters representing the King's motto: Regna Firmat Pietas – Piety strengthens the Realms.

The observatory is a small domed building, built on the roof of the tower. Built in 1929, the current observatory is 7 m high and has a diameter of 6 m. Access is by a narrow winding stone staircase from the observation deck.

On the upper part of the façade of the tower, there is a gilded rebus inscription. Christian IV's draft of it, written in his own hand writing, is kept at the Danish National Archives. The rebus includes the four Hebrew consonants of the Tetragrammaton. The rebus can be interpreted in the following way: Lead God, the right teaching and justice into the heart of the crowned King Christian IV, 1642.

#AbFav_END_of_SUMMER_‍🏫👩‍🏫

It is that time of year again.

BLOOMING LUCKY HEATHER. Once you are in that area no matter where you walk or drive, it's just one awesome view after another.

The higher parts of the moors are largely cloaked in one of the best areas of heather moorland to be found in England if not the UK.

By early Autumn, the area becomes a sea of purple blooms for a few weeks.

Nature's own garden...

Heather moorland is rare on a worldwide scale – there is probably less heather moorland in the world than tropical rainforest.

Around 70% of the world's heather moorland is in the UK and the largest continuous expanse of moorland in England and Wales is here in the North York Moors.

Moorland covers a third of the North York Moors National Park and most of the higher ground is covered in heather.

Unenclosed and unsurpassed, this stunning landscape responds sensitively to the changing seasons and has a quiet drama all of its own.

In early summer you’ll hear the call of the moorland birds, such as the red grouse, curlew and golden plover.

Later, as the summer evenings draw in, the flowering heather turns the moors into a purple carpet that stretches for mile after mile.

Thanks for viewing, M, (*_*)

Flit finds a vintage telephone and dials in. She's hoping to be the tenth caller.

The hold music sounds like static fuzz, which is what it is. She bobs her head to the memories of civilization; her social drives are starting to malfunction due to non use. She chitters away to herself and waits to be the winner of some kind of contest she's fantasizing about.

If only this theme-park had an epic gate... ((turns to smirk at the camera)) One with a glorious clown head of

doom with an eager mouth lined with fangs for tourists to walk through. The daydream pleases her and she grins hopeful into the sunset.

She takes a selfie with an old polariod camera and shakes it for some reason like the humans used to. It slowly comes

into focus. She then scratches some crued letters and a smiley face onto the white rectangle at the bottom, curles it up and

puts it into a beer bottle to send off into the unknown.

"Blair & Seb, I really need an epic clown gate for my theme park.

First time caller, long time listener... Beep"

Koh Tao is a beautiful island located in the Gulf of Thailand, about 70 kilometers east of mainland Thailand. Part of an archipelago that also includes Koh Samui and Koh Phangan, the island is best known for its breathtaking natural beauty and diving and snorkeling opportunities. Koh Tao is known worldwide as one of the top destinations for divers. The island offers an abundance of diving schools and dive sites, ranging from shallow coral reefs to deep wrecks. The crystal clear waters and diverse marine biodiversity make it an ideal place to learn to dive or improve your diving skills. The underwater world around the island is rich in coral reefs and various marine animals. Visitors can enjoy activities such as kayaking, snorkeling, diving and relaxing on the idyllic beaches. On Koh Tao you can encounter different types of soft corals, including fan corals and soft leather corals. Here you often find the famous Finding Nemo clownfish and other clownfish. They are often associated with sea anemones, in which they seek shelter from predators. The area is also home to various types of hard coral, such as brain coral, table coral and staghorn coral. You can find colorful parrotfish feeding on coral and algae. Reef sharks can be seen regularly here, especially during deeper dives. You can encounter different types of moray eels, such as the giant moray eel. Sea cucumbers, sea urchins and starfish: these marine invertebrates are found on the seabed. Several species of lobsters and crabs inhabit the cracks and holes in the reef. Sea turtles are the most iconic inhabitants of the waters around Koh Tao. You may encounter several species of sea turtles, including the green sea turtle and the hawksbill turtle.

Shark Island is a diving location known for the opportunity to see reef sharks while diving. It is important to note that these sharks are usually harmless to divers and their presence adds to the appeal of this dive site. We did not see sharks this time but came across a very old turtle with a shell length of up to 2 meters! Sea turtles can live more than 100 years. These gentle creatures are curious by nature and can sometimes come close to you, creating wonderful interactions. Sea turtles often exude a calm and tranquil grace as they glide through the water. Their slow, fluid movements can be hypnotic and convey a sense of peace. An encounter with a friendly sea turtle leaves a deep impression and makes you aware of the importance and conservation of marine animals in their habitat. It is a reminder of the fragility and beauty of the underwater world. In addition to turtles and reef sharks, divers can enjoy a variety of marine life here, including tropical fish and beautiful corals. Koh Tao is sensitive to the impact of tourism, and efforts are being made to preserve the island. Visitors are often encouraged to take back their waste and follow sustainable practices. It is important to respect local regulations to preserve the beauty of the island for future generations.

This tiny Powderpuff flower is all of 2 inches high. I got down on the gravelly street and tried to shoot it, but finally picked this one and held it up to the blue sky.

An amazing structure. A globe of straight shiny stamens, each ending in a yellow pollen dot. The stem is a bit fuzzy but straight and sturdy despite it's small size. An elegant weed indeed!

„Being sensitive is a way of life. It is a way of embracing instead of blocking out the world. When you’re sensitive, you don’t have the „luxury” of avoiding the things that matter. You are by nature compassionate. Your sensitivity is your vitality, your flexibility, your engagement, your passion, your inspiration.

Fear is inviting you to be brave. Anger is showing you your healthy limits. Grief is showing you what needs letting go.

Don’t let anyone put you down when they don’t like the way their own sensitivity is reflected in you. Learn as much about your sensitivity as you can. It is a beautiful gift and it deserves honing and compassion.” - thehappysensitive.com
