This is a pretty cool waterfall - you can go all the way behind it, all the way across. As we were driving here, once I looked around and could count 14 waterfalls in view from the highway. Someone once told me that in Iceland people have waterfalls in their back yards that we would make national parks out of. I thought he was exaggerating until I went there.
Iceland in winter is beautiful, but it means you miss out on some stuff.
For instance, this. Seljalandsfoss is that really famous one where you can get in behind it and look out... but all those paths were closed, because they were frozen over and just to dangerous.
Edited to remove a) purple fringes and b) hovering tourist hordes. There's not much I can do about the sky, even in RAW - this was my first long-exposure shot, not just with this camera, but ever.
About 16 miles further west around the Iceland Ring Road from Skókafoss is Seljalandsfoss. It's the same line of abandoned cliffs, so a 60m drop but quite a different waterfall. This one falls over quite a deep undercut so that there is a path from one side to the other behind the falls.
Only an hour or so after leaving the Sólheimajökulll Glacier. but the Sun began to break through (it was still very windy, though).

Icy mist and wooden platform at Seljalandsfoss, one of the more interesting waterfalls in Iceland. Almost 200 feet tall, it has eaten away a shallow cave at the bottom behind it, so you can walk behind the falls (if you enjoy getting wet.)

This waterfall tried to drown me. At the left is a staircase that leads behind the falls. I climbed it and was promptly doused with spray. Being hardy and not wanting to lose my opportunity for a good shot, I waited a few seconds for the spray to die down. It didn't. I had to change my pants.
