Parental love was in short supply when Aura Angel was growing up, in a household where there was so little money that her parents would burn the floorboards of their council house to keep warm in winter. Her father would beat her at the slightest excuse, and when he left home her mother took over, using brooms and kitchen implements to make sure the blows hurt. Her mother’s conflicts with authority led Aura (not her real name) to eight schools and more than 20 homes before finally, at 12 years old, she marched into the local Social Services offices and asked them to take care of her. Her troubles were far from over; an abortion at 16 followed and two children by fathers who badly let her down. Yet now, in her forties, she is at peace with herself. She has written A Normal Life as “a counselling tool for myself”. It is an extraordinary and moving story, candidly and sensitively written.

When boat trader Daniel Cassidy is approached by a Turkish businessman who offers him a lucrative international deal, he has his suspicions about the quality of the vessels on offer. Little does he realise that the boats are the last thing he should be worrying about – their hidden cargo is far more sinister. Daniel soon finds himself locked into a web of lies and deceit, and finds himself trapped between the threat of a smuggling charge and the fear that the criminals who are shadowing him will wreak a terrible revenge on him and his family. Strike of the Cobra, based on a true-life story, is a thrilling tale of crime, subterfuge and drug smuggling in Britain, Turkey and Singapore.

It is 1927, and young German diplomat Peter von Saloman and his family are posted to Canton in China, only to find themselves caught up in vicious political turmoil which soon leads to a violent encounter with rebel communists. Cured of crippling injuries by ancient Chinese medicine, their young son Adam soon emerges as a boy with unusual spirit - and very special gifts. On their return to their homeland, the Von Salomans find themselves caught up in the rise of the Nazis in the prelude to World War II. Peter, his beautiful wife Kathe and young Adam will need all the courage and wisdom they learned in China to survive the iniquities of the Third Reich. Long after the war, when her professor boss and lover dies of cancer, Katerina Lindemann discovers that he is not at all the man she thought he was, and that the two of them share an unexpected link with the Von Salomans and their stand against the Nazis. This thrilling and intriguing story will draw the reader into an ingenious and stirring tale of fascism and bravery, love and loyalty.
