Many people participate in an annual tradition called "Elf on the Shelf". This was created by a children’s picture book written by American mother-daughter duo Carol Aebersold and Chanda Bell, and illustrated by Coë Steinwart in 2005.

We recently discovered this awesome book and started our own annual tradition with our son. In a nutshell, you read the story to your child and then hide this cute (scary?) little elf in your house each morning in a different place. The idea is that the elf reports the kids' behavior each night to Santa Claus while the children are sleeping. There are only a couple rules like "no touching the elf" and "the elf can't talk".

It's been a lot of fun. If you are interested, check out the links below:

I have known Lane (aka Leslie) for over five years. I consider her on of my dearest friends. When I discovered we had known each other that long I figured it was time to make another book. While I do not expect to sell any books beyond the two I purchased, one for me and one for her, I did make it available on Amazon. My sole reason was so I could get an IBSN number and feel like I had a “real” book. So, it is a bit pricey, but for anyone who knows my friend you might think it is worth it. Actually if anyone wants it, let me know and I will arrange to at least get you back the few bucks (literally) that I would make on a sale. Amazon adds 15% to the price if I had it available only from Blurb.

I will put in a plug for Blurb. I find making a self-published, online, book is easy, their quality is good, and their pricing is competitive. (darn, I do NOT even get a kick back from them for the plug). Below is a link so that you can preview the book if you wish.

Hi Flickr,

I've released my third photography zine, Burrito Massacre, which is now available for purchase on my website for a mere $5 USD.

Just check out my new store page: www.dommephoto.com/store/

As you can probably tell, I don't really upload anything to Flickr or Instagram anymore. I believe that a photograph isn't really a photograph unless it's printed. So why just keep clicking through your photostream like this when you can have a series of actual photographs to flip through?

24 pages, full-bleed, horizontal format. Really well-printed.

Note: I sell these at cost, so I'm not out to make a buck - I just would like to continue to get my work out to people who might appreciate it, but without the apathy that I feel systematic Flickr uploads represent.

OK, so It took a little bit of time, but I've finally done it. I've published my own Polaroid book

{ on release }. The plan is to create a series of { on release } books each using a different film medium. It's kind of exciting thinking about it. Now I just have to start using my many lomo cameras and my new BBF :)

So if you happen to like what you see, the book is available now in the Blurb bookstore!

Oh and if you'd like to view the layout a little larger click here.

PS. took me forever to add a note to each photo! haha

When I met Dave in late April 2013, he was not doing the greatest but had a positive outlook for his future ahead thanks to guardian angels in the city. Now sober for a number of years and still as witty as always, he's always good for a joke in Peace Park. The first ones always free!

My write-up with Dave from 2013 is visible here, it was also a real treat to finally share with him my photo book I put together. #MadisonBeyondtheDome
