HOW TO DO IT
As you walk, try to notice as many positive things around you as you can. These can be sights, sounds, smells, or other sensations. For example, you could focus on the breathtaking height of a tree you never really noticed before, the intricate architecture of a building on your block, the dance of sunshine off a window or puddle, the smell of grass or flowers, or the way other people look out for each other as they navigate crowded streets.
As you notice each of these positive things, acknowledge each one in your mind—don’t just let them slip past you. Pause for a moment as you hear or see each thing and make sure it registers with your conscious awareness, really take it in. Try to identify what it is about that thing that makes it pleasurable to you.
Try to walk a different route each day so you don’t become too accustomed to any of these things and start to take them for granted.
WHY YOU SHOULD TRY IT
In our daily lives, we don’t always notice or acknowledge the pleasant and positive things around us. We may be in a rush, distracted by other thoughts, or busy checking our phones. As a result, we miss opportunities for positive experiences and positive emotions—the building blocks of long-term happiness.
Research suggests that we can maximize the benefits of the good things around us by consciously savoring them rather than letting them pass us by or taking them for granted. This exercise offers one basic way to start savoring the bounty of goodness around us—not by going to some exotic destination but by paying more careful attention to the sights, smells, and sounds we often neglect.
EVIDENCE THAT IT WORKS
Participants who were encouraged to maintain a positive focus during daily walks for one week reported a greater increase in happiness at the end of the week, compared to participants who were encouraged to maintain a negative or neutral focus during their walks.
WHY IT WORKS
Taking the time to “stop and smell the roses”—what researchers call “savoring”—can enhance happiness and boost feelings of appreciation and gratitude. Savoring helps us deepen the impact that positive events have on our emotional lives—rather than just slipping from our awareness, or failing to register in the first place, these events sink into our minds and stay with us long after they are over. By becoming more attuned to our surroundings, we may also be more likely to connect with the people around us, even if it’s just to share a smile

Time passes and Danbo finally realises she cannot stay angry forever. Listening to her friends' advice, she reads self help books to move her life forward, to regain the confidence that was shattered the day she saw the taller Danbo. Along the way she also decides to exercise away some of the "fat" she accumulated during her Gluttony phase.
"In almost every list Pride (Latin, superbia), or hubris, is considered the original and most serious of the seven deadly sins, and the source of the others. It is identified as a desire to be more important or attractive than others, failing to acknowledge the good work of others, and excessive love of self (especially holding self out of proper position toward God). Dante's definition was 'love of self perverted to hatred and contempt for one's neighbour.'" - Wikipedia.
This is the fifth photo in the series of Danbo and the Seven Deadly Sins. The first is Envy, the second is Sloth, the third is Gluttony and the fourth is Wrath.
I have had the basics of this one in my head for a while, the marshmellow props has always been there but it was not quite enough for the shot. But the other night over dinner I was thinking about it when I remember a comment left on one of the photos and the light went on in my head. Thanks : Elizabeth :!
So every spare moment I had this week I was making up these little books. They are a combination of computer work and hand drawings. The one I am most proud of is the "Self Esteem for Danbos" as I emulated the cover of the "for Dummies" guides and it took a lot of effort to get the fonts, colour and layout right.
Thank you everyone for the comments. Things have been super hectic here and I am also celebrating Chinese New Year.

Kevin got this book for Christmas. (Thanks, Nick ;)
I have to share a couple of my favourite excerpts:
WHAT DO NORMAL WOMEN WANT?
"Let's take a look at what white women want from a relationship. She will be asking 'What's in this for me?' Most normal women ask these question in a relationship, although the priority and order of the answers may be different depending on the psychological makeup of that woman. Generally, traits women are looking for and want in a partner are marriage, children, friends, humor, kindness, romance, warmth, intelligence, materialism, gifts, attention, affection, kindness, sex, and thoughtfulness."
['materialism'? haha. I love the order of things women want.]
MENTAL PROGRAMMING: TO DATE A WHITE WOMAN
- Define long-term goals
- State short-term objectives: What type of image do you want to project?
- The what and how should be in harmony with the targeted white woman you have in mind
- Set dating strategies to project your availability and image
- Analyze available physical positive assets (good looks, body type,) and resources (time, money).
- Gather the white woman's personal data
- Keep a diary, take notes, and review plans.
"There are also many white women who are the shy, introverted type, and this shyness is often one of the reasons that they choose an Asian man, who is generally less aggressive, and more smart, considerate and intelligent"
['more smart'? ;]
The Selfhelp Home was founded in 1938, as the Holocaust began, as a volunteer mutual-aid society where refugees and survivors could find community and rebuild their lives. Selfhelp officially became a ‘Home” in 1951 when it purchased the Drexel Mansion in Hyde Park, housing 19 residents. As the need surpassed space, Selfhelp purchased and rebuilt the building at 908 W. Argyle St. and subsequently expanded and purchased the 920 W. Argyle building next door several years later.
The organization in its advertising touts its service to Holocaust survivors. Here’s my experience. A friend’s mother was evicted from The Selfhelp Home some ten years ago because of insufficient funds. She was not only a survivor but as an inmate at Buchenwald was a slave laborer in the Mittlewerk bunker machining part for V1 and V2 rockets. The Jewish Federation of Chicago (the home is not part of the JUF) failed to assist her either.
Sometime between 1983 & 1995 I became an alcoholic. The reasons why are many & various & took a long time to recognise, ignore, acknowledge, obfuscate, avoid &, when the money ran out (mine & my neighbour's), seek treatment. Prior to 'the seeking of treatment' I had lived a number of lives in education as teacher, project manager & advisor. Briefly I had plugged a finger in the hole of the collapsing dam by writing & publishing. In all these careers I was successful but my drinking was a triumph.

I am grateful for goals with soul. I spent the morning going through a desire map workbook to bring myself to my core desired feelings. Jotting down words, crossing out words, circling words, all based on how I want to feel in 2016. The process is beautiful. I love words. The idea is to create goals and make plans based how you want to feel. Make sense, right? Thank you to my great friend Carrie for introducing me to Danielle LaPorte and her books last year. This is my 2nd year creating goals with soul.

Fresh from the high of a gig the night before, i attempted to attend a relatives funeral, this would have been my 16th funeral of the year and really took a hit on my depression.
Having been fighting depression for the past 18 months or so, i knew that going for a walk at some point that day with my camera would clear my mind and help me relax and reflect on my tough times recently. On the way to the wake i came across this horse in a field alone, very timid at first but something about her just spoke to me and i spent the next half an hour or so waiting for her to come toward me.
