Self-expression or Hobson's choice!
Some would argue that it is a symbol of modesty, privacy & morality and others would say that this is patriarchal gender ideology. Now what is true depends on each individual's perspective.
This photograph depicts mannequin heads wearing the hijab (Veil) looking right out at the horizon.
"And I know that you feel it too
When my skin turns into glue
You will know that it's warm inside
And you'll come runnin' to me, in the cold, cold night
in the cold, cold night"
White Stripes
I love my dreads and dreadfully to some, my very own hair gives others insight into a world of wig culture and couture, for those that lack vision....here it is, you can still have your very own dreads (art incarnate) and still be a working actress. So here are the many faces of At@ri Harikari... the evolution started long ago, now its just plain Atari Harikari Revolution...

They say it is better to have love and lost than to have never loved
Whom ever “They” are should try it
The pain of having someone you love walk out on you is like taking a dagger to the heart
“Better” is a relative term
Your heart lies there, bleeding, dieing
It shrivels into a cold, black, emotionless vessel
Fueling your anger with every beat
You feel scared, hurt, but mostly you feel alone
Over time your heart begins to heal, but still weighs heavy
On the outside you smile, pretending to be okay
On the inside you feel only sadness
You become the protector
Always remaining cognizant of the pain you bear
Vowing to never let your heart suffer again
Often times to the detriment of caring and love
Then one day, out of the blue
You let your guard down
The chink in your armor shows
Someone proves to you that you can love…again
The pain and bitterness you have been desperately clinging to escapes
The scars remain, but closure seeps in
You realize it is okay to let your heart shine as bright as the sun.

"I want freedom, the right to self-expression, everybody's right to beautiful, radiant things."

Just a peek in one of my journals. It's my informal/private journal...I use it to document my life...things I need to remember...lists I write...gluing in cards I've received, daily ephemera, all life's little scraps, notes etc. I've been spending more time journaling here than in my main Art Journal lately...and more time on scrap-and papercraft projects lately...I think I am going through a fickle phase...
