Face tattoos have been a thing for pretty much as long as tattooing has been around. Tribesmen from all over the world would adorn their bodies with symbolic tattoos, including their faces.
Over time, this practice all but fizzled out and went through a period of unpopularity and stigmatisation. In the past decade, face tattoos have made a comeback in urban scenes.
More and more people are starting to accept this form of self-expression

Being away for more than two weeks made me realized how much I miss photography. After being invited to explore Bangkok (again), I had so much fun taking photos again.
I promised myself to take photos just for FUN.
No standards, no pressures. Lol. I’ll shoot anything and everything.

Shot just before I began to pack up my mask collection. I have handmade papier mache masks from Venice, masks from New Orleans, and handmade ones from Atlanta to New Mexico to Seattle.
Often times, artists create without knowing the full impact of their work on others. Emerging artists (and perhaps established artists as well) say, “If I can help just one person, that would be enough.” But, what if one person turns to two, then four, then fifty, one thousand and eventually millions? That’s the power that we have as creatives. It’s not selfish to want to reach millions of people if the work that you are doing is helping them through something, propelling them towards something or is something that brings you great joy.
I don’t often create fan art but for years I have been compelled to create “this” piece. I didn’t know what it would look like or what medium I would use but I knew that it was in my future. Quarantine has done a number of interesting things to me like get closer to my art and try to live a life more aligned with my intuition.
For those of you who know me really well, know that I am a BIG fan of Tiesto. I selected memories and elements of my history with his music in order to create this portrait. This was a huge deal for me and you can read more about it in my blog post (www.fiercelypowerful.com/tiesto-self-portrait/). “ Spinning Thoughts-Masked Emotions ”
"I wanted to make up for my "long shutter" disaster last week. It was time for a self portrait. It was fun creating this. I got my favorite mask out & set up my tripod & timer.. and snapped a few shots, this one being my favorite. I feel like this image, screams "emotion".
I'm all about "mental health awareness" & I like to show/discuss it in my PERSONAL images.
& I feel like this photo shows the inner feelings of someone, during an anxiety attack.. overwhelmed, scared, head spinning, unsure, out of body, numb, can't breathe.. the list goes on. I hate anxiety & PTSD, but it's important for people suffering to know that they're not alone. & Also to raise awareness to friends & family of those suffering.. Trying to show them what their loved one feels.. It helps. God bless you all!"

I hope that everyone is doing fantastic this week! I'm doing and feeling a bit better than last week.. Which is why I wanted to do a decent photo for this week's challenge.. *dedicated to mental health, as always*. Thankfully I was able to do a self portrait, and I'm actually happy with the way it turned out.
I even liked my hair ties on my arm, almost to offset the other arm not having them I guess? Either way, I liked & left them there.
**THIS is "Long SHUTTER". Me set up in front of my camera/tripod with the timer on.. and moving my head while the camera snapped away. This one was my favorite. I'm quite happy with it, to be honest.. which is why I wanted to share with you guys..
LOCATION: For those of you wondering, this was taken at my house. No flash or reflectors. I just used the little bit of sunlight coming thru the window in my front door - but I left the door closed this time (I usually will open it). I set up my tripod & used the light coming from the door, and positioned myself in front of it.
I recently bought a NICE FLASH *that you put on your camera* & a diffuser. I really am thinking that I ought to practice with that darn thing soon! I am such a procrastinator... I truly am! I need a push.. or a big shove.. to start playing with it again lol. Or take it out of the box... at least lmao!
