A two hour PAINTING FOR LIFE workshop is offered in the afternoon for those interested in painting for the sake of painting--not in imitating something out there in the world, but in painting for the very act of painting.
In PAINTING FOR LIFE you start facing a large blank page, not knowing where you are going, not knowing what's going to come up. You free yourselves from all learned techniques and ideas about realism, proportions, colour combinations, etc. knowing that you can't make a mistake if you are open to how you feel here and now.
You ask yourself, "how do I feel right now? Heavy, light, sad, happy, angry, confused, sleepy...?" You physically get in contact with that feeling. You feel it in your body. You let your body move the way it wants to. You let the images come up. You move with that image. It could be your mother, your dog, your lover, the victims of Iraq. Whatever wants to come up, you let it come up.
As you release unnecessary control, you can more fully engage in the creative act. You paint for process not for product.
This is another one of my 3. My son took this playing. It works but not the best! I love Marilyn and have all my life. Some may think it is crazy but that is you and this is me. Please keep your negative comments to yourself as they do not matter to me. I live for myself and the ones around me. Not trying to be rude but I know how some feel about "body art" and I don't care to hear it expressed! By the way those are my lips. Cool huh!?!
Love the pairing of the lizard suit and kitty ears.
Another cute couple, posing at the entrance to Art Alley.

Mona of the Playa I dreamed a dream while the masters brush coaxed my image from his paints. And in that dream, a deser, covered in white , cracked earth, boomed with man wondrous things. Shiny things, sailing ships. an elepaht, octopus and more did glide upon the sacred playa floor. There were temples there and flowers near as tall that shown forth light at night and stones tha sang when stepped upon. Lovers in embrace rose from the sand and there were sculptures, some which moved and some climbed upon by the denizens. Everywhere I looked, men and women, children, too, dressed head to toe in gaiety, did march and dance and play. And here, amidst this spectacle, arose a mighty Man, taller than all things, an effigy of one year spent, of lessons learned and of letting go. I was told the Man would burn. And, oh how bright and marvelous this scene did sparkle and beckon to me, calling out, "dance the wind, dare the fire and let the playa adorn you."
