Hi Flickr universe! Have not had much time to post here lately since I have been preoccupied with my new website and blog that I wrote about earlier in the summer:
It is getting less time consuming after initial website creation and set up, so I hope to get more time to post more on Flickr too soon. I do love the blog part of it as it gives me a chance to post more images from some particular outing in one post vs one image here on Flickr.
I hope everyone's summer is going well and you are taking your cameras everywhere and taking new exciting images. I have been exploring photographing butterflies with different lenses to see the differences and similarities. Hoping to write about it soon and post some pictures. Turned out I had no images of butterflies taken with my Pentacon 50 lens!!! I had to run out and correct that asap. ;-)
For now, this self portrait from yesterday I took on my phone. :-)
Till next time,
Diana
I rarely take photographs of myself so it's kind of funny that I chose a day where I had basically just gotten off a plane from Chicago to Edinburgh without sleeping (The day before,, mind you, I had my first endoscopy and colonoscopy!), and instead of freshening up, I hit the ground running to get vegan haggis for the first time (It's actually REALLY good and I hadn't had solid foods in awhile!) and see modern art. Priorities....flying for me and not sleeping feels basically the same as the second day of a music festival when I have stayed up all night editing photos....which is what I was doing the weekend before my endoscopy and colonoscopy....I expect so much of my body and wonder when it's just going to say, "Peace out, I'm done here!"
Anyway, I walked into this bathroom at The Modern Two after seeing an exhibit called Women in Revolt, documenting the feminist movement in Scotland and England since the 70s (I just loved the sign If Men Could Get Pregnant, Abortion Would Be a Sacrament!) The colors here just immediately brightened up my mood and I instantly felt like I could walk ten more miles with 30+ pounds of my camera equipment, which I then did (more vegan haggis for dinner!)
I'm rambling. What I am trying to say is that I liked this bathroom and vegan haggis and feminism and colors.

For MM this week I decided to use my little Kodak Retinette.. The self timer lever on this camera still works :o) not bad for a camera over 50 years old.
It's challenging but I'm enjoying shooting with this little camera, and look forward to seeing my images.
HMM :o)
self portrait, natural light
I promise the next shots will be more creative (at least a bit)...
if I continue uploading at this rate, I'll need a pro account soon... =/
I'll have to be a bit more selective

My friend and neighbor through the year,
Self-appointed overseer
Of my crops of fruit and grain,
Of my woods and furrowed plain,
Claim thy tithings right and left,
I shall never call it theft.

"You're back then?" said the fly "We flies thought we were going to get some peace and quiet now that you were spending your time with that spotted monstrosity". I was taken aback, spotted monstrosity, surely they couldn't be talking about the beautiful and talented Arthur. "Do you mean Arthur", I said "the ladybird that I've been taking pictures of". "Yeah - that's him, evil monster, Arthur the assassinator is his real name, you know", the fly started rubbing his hands together with glee. "That thing eats 5000 of our little cousins, the aphids, every year of its life". I had never thought of it like that. "Aphids are pests though" I retorted "they damage plants!". "You mean they eat to try and survive", answered the fly, "anyway - you're a human, you can talk about who is the real pest on this planet, it was perfect before you lot came along". The fly then flew off, looking for some waste product to dispose of, or some dead and rotting animal to return back to the food chain.

“Nascono legami che vanno al di là del contatto fisico, della vicinanza e della vista. Percorrono strade invisibili, fino ad arrivare nella testa. Si diramano in tante viuzze chiamate: comprensione, ascolto, telepatia, empatia, appartenenza. Coinvolgono talmente tanto da riuscire ad appagare ogni mancanza tangibile.”

For anyone who's wondering i sat on the bench (keeping as still as possible!) for about 30 secs of the 129 sec exposure.
Recently I had the chance to take a few road trips all by myself. I never really thought of that as something I'd want to do, but the freedom just to drive, with no timeline, and no certain destination is very freeing. I took turns sporadically, following the light, waiting for something to catch my eye.
As is the case when you travel solo, the selfie is often the only way to get a human subject into your images. The series of self portraits I'll be posting over the coming weeks are the beginnings of a collection of images that fit the theme of "self discovery." Maybe I will print a book for myself some day. For now, I get to learn a little bit about myself from each image I place myself in!
Saturday Self Challenge: Surprise
When we saw our 14 year old grandson just over two months ago, he was playing pleasant tunes on the piano, Returning this week, we were amazed to hear classical music wafting through the house. Here he playing the main theme from the movie "Interstellar". A most pleasant surprise indeed.
Summer is a vacation time! Everyone loves to travel in the summer with the whole family. The photo was taken while relaxing on the Cote d'Azur.
Now, no one is surprised by the scene where people take selfies. What only they do not invent, for the sake of an interesting photo posted on the Internet network!
Day 5 of self isolation, (in my car)
was a good day found this beautiful male snowy owl, Bald eagle with a gofer, and a big flock of Snow Bunting!

Hopelessly adrift
In the eyes of the ghost again
Down on my knees
And my hands in the air again
Pushing my face in the memory of you again
But I never know if it's real
Never know how I wanted to feel
