Another autumn fog rolled in off Lake Ontario and over lower downtown Toronto today. Processed for effect in PS with warming filter.
This large swallow has a brick-red rump and underparts and dark blue upperparts. It is told from other swallows by the metallic-blue patches on the side of the head that cover the ears and eyes. It is resident near the equator and is a wet season breeding visitor in the north and south of its range. The Rufous-chested Swallow flies strongly, with frequent swoops and changes of course, over sparse woodland, grassland, wetland edges, and other open habitats. In flight it differs from similar swallows by the color of the forward part of the underwing: buffy in Rufous-chested Swallow and white in Mosque Swallow, which also has a pale throat.

A little break from all the wabi-sabi, I shot this white amaryllis back in December at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, a little west of Philly, with it's nearly five acres of botanicals inside under glass, which is where I took this picture; you may have seen the five out of focus images of tree lights I took from the outside. A spectacular specimen discovered at a spectacular place.

still prefer natural light, but I do love the ability to include backgrounds I otherwise couldn't without the extra light. we've been coming here together for the 12+ years we've been together. I have bw film shots of her in the same place from when I was just getting back into photography.

Not many tourists about - two cars came past but stopped to ask if they would like me to wait whilst I took my photos - Told them I had a clone tool for that sort of thing

LIMNI - ΛΙΜΝΗ
Limni, on the island of Evia, is a small port, beach and tourist resort, which is beautiful the whole year round. It is located 80 km NW of Chalkida and about 150 km from Athens.
The island of Evia lies along the Eastern coast of Central Greece, and is accessible to the mainland via two bridges, an old wooden bridge and a contemporary suspension bridge. There are also frequent ferries to several parts of the island. It is 175 km long and is the second largest island in Greece, and the third largest in the Eastern Mediterranean.

I had to do someone a favour - the nightmare drive to Leeds Airport - a carefully blended mix of Whacky Races and the usual Panal Traffic Jam. Rather than come back home back through that, I went to the Chevin, then via Otley to Almscliff Crag
