DPAC takes coffin full of messages to ATOS HQ - 29.08.2012
As the rest of the country waited for the evening's Paralympic Games opening ceremony to begin, activists from DPAC, WinVisible and the Direct Action Network (DAN) delivered a coffin to the doors of ATOS Origin's Headquarters, with messages from the relatives and loved one of sick and disabled people who have been through the French IT company's much-reviled Work Capability Assessment and who were all taken off the benefits which made their lives both possible and bearable, and who all died or committed suicide shortly afterwards.

It wasn't until I looked up this corner on google maps to find out the street names that I realised that all the streets around this area were named after gemstones.
I had tried to get to an area just east of this spot where the streets are named after vegetables (including Cabbage, Cauliflower and Celery Drive) but I ran out of time. North of this is an area with streets named after bugs (Beetle Street is a particular favourite) and birds.
Head west and cross over EDSA, there's a whole area with streets named after American Ivy League Universities which is just south of another areas with streets named after American states and presidents.
While English is recognised as an official language in the Philippines, I hadn't expected it to filter all the way down to street names.

Portraits of staff working at the Kerry Town Treatment Unit (KTTU) in Sierra Leone. The portraits were taken in the shade with the subjects back to the sun using only natural light with no light modifiers or reflectors. They were shot around mid day.
A lot of the staff working at the KTTU came form a range of different backgrounds and are all helping with the fight against ebola. The country has been the centre of attention for overseas aid since mid 2014 when an outbreak of Ebola started to spread across the country.
