I'm not a big fan of dog clothing, but tonight, as I was sitting in my office, Maestro trotted in and when I leaned over to pet him I just started laughing. My wife haad bought this "sweatshirt" for him and I had to admit the concept of Maestro as my security appealed to me. However, as I took this picture, all I did was call his name....I did nothing else to coax the scowl that appeared on his face. I don't know if he was trying to act tough, or if he was threatening me should I go ahead and take the picture. Which of course I did.

This security guard (I asked him what he was doing) was there to prevent people climbing the statue :)
I said what a boring job you've been lumbered with here, what time do you finish? Five he said, who takes over then?
No idea, I'm glad I'm not on night duty. I'll post another one showing the entire figure later...

This guy was so big I couldn't see half the playing field. I was going to tell him to move out of the way, but I moved instead.
It was his lucky day.
Luanda is the city of guards. You can fin one practically in every house. They like to stay outside, and talk to other guards.
I feel every shopping street has a daily twilight time; when customers stop coming; and the shops stare at the world around it; as if like; it has a lot to depict. Here in Bangalore it is generally between 9 pm and 10 pm. That’s nice time for some quick showroom photography.
I’ve posted both BW and color version of this pic. Let me know which one you like better. I personally felt the BW version is really nice; but could not stop myself from uploading this color version either .. :-).
And also thanks to my friend Anirban for letting me use his camera to capture this frame; as I did not have mine with me at that moment.

While taking this photo I was confronted by a security guard, my very first time for such an encounter while taking pictures. I had to tell him over and over I'm just a guy who likes photography. He had his walkie-talkie on and I could hear some joker yelling, "Confiscate the camera! It's espionage!" I found that fairly humorous. After I convinced the guard I was harmless he finally took off on his Bunge golf cart.

DPAC takes coffin full of messages to ATOS HQ - 29.08.2012
Smug? Disinterested? Aloof? Just seen something really funny? Who knows what goes on in the conscience of a bright young thing?
As the rest of the country waited for the evening's Paralympic Games opening ceremony to begin, activists from DPAC, WinVisible and the Direct Action Network (DAN) delivered a coffin to the doors of ATOS Origin's Headquarters, with messages from the relatives and loved one of sick and disabled people who have been through the French IT company's much-reviled Work Capability Assessment and who were all taken off the benefits which made their lives both possible and bearable, and who all died or committed suicide shortly afterwards.

A funny thing happened to me near the London Eye, where I was photographing people in the crowd enjoying the London Thames Festival. A security guard from the London Eye got in the frame and then demanded that I deleted the photo of him.
I asked, "Why?"
He said, "I don't know what you might use it for, and it’s the law of the land that if someone objects, you must delete it"
"That's not true lets call the police and ask them, and anyway what do you mean, what I might use it for?” I replied
He answered, "Well I do security, don't I"
I was perplexed.......
With no real reason, I refused.
He then called for backup on his little radio (which makes him feel like a cop or secret agent, I guess) and I was suddenly surrounded by a gang of aggressive security guards being rather threatening and talking into their own little radios. I argued for about 20 -25 mins with them, but when they pawed at my camera, I was worried that I'll end up loosing all the photos of the day and maybe hurt so I capitulated so I could escape.
What they didn't realise was I only deleted one of the photos. You see, during the argument I fire a shot right at him while he tried to block the camera. I prefer it to the boring crowd scene that he originally objected to.
A Strange thing though. There were many other photographers there standing around gawping at this scene, not one came to back me up that I was within my rights to take these pictures and nobody has a right to privacy in a public place.
Anyway, this has been another story of our freedom draining away. It seems to me that the terrorists have actually won.
