Planning a large scale event in Ohio can be exciting. Ensuring that everyone has a good time might be the most important job but to some but really the most important factor you should take into account is hiring a professional Security Guard Service. They will be able to keep crowds under control, ensure safety and keep an eye out for trouble.

I couldn't resist this one!

CAMP HANSEN, OKINAWA, Japan ̶ Col. Stephen B. Lewallen Jr., left, presents Toshiharu China with a certificate of commendation May 7 at Camp Hansen. An individual had attempted to gain access to Camp Hansen April 23 without showing proper identification. Without hesitation, China pursued the individual to a parking lot where he blocked in the vehicle, removed the keys from the ignition, and detained the individual until military police arrived, guaranteeing the safety and security of the 6,000 personnel stationed at Camp Hansen. Intensive care is lot less scary than it seems...I did find it strange that a security guard is outside...

While waiting for our turn to ride a bus going home, this guard is waiting for his final few minutes of work.

After I took this picture, he walked over and asked if I worked on the construction site.

I said I did not and that I was under the impression that this road was now open (as well as the Target), which it was.

He said I needed permission from Target or the site developer to take pictures here.

I know my rights, so I asked him if I was on a public street or if the roads through our new downtown are privately owned and maintained.

He did not know.

I explained that I'm legally allowed to photograph from public property, and said that if he could tell me where McKinley the public road ended and McKinley the private road began, I'd gladly step over to the public road and continue taking my pictures.

He began to look worried and said he didn't know about law, just what he was told to do, and that finding work right now was tough, he didn't want to lose his job.

I replied that I understood and didn't want him to lose his job, either, and if he saw me doing something he was supposed to prevent that he should call his manager over to talk with me and I'd be happy to tell his manager that he has done what was asked of him, but that I am within my rights to continue photographing the area.

That seemed to satisfy him, and we each went about our business.

Update: A town councilman now assures me these are public streets.

I ventured out one Sunday morning just to see what my eye would catch and I passed this Diner called Cadillac Jacks that is only used for movies now but next door The Pink Motel is still operational.

I pulled over and noticed a Security Guard standing out front right by his cone. I introduced myself and asked if I could take some pictures. I landed up talking more withJulio than taking pictures. He was such a nice guy. He has to stand there from 7am until midnight. He gets some breaks but not enough to go anywhere. I asked about lunch or dinner and he said he brought his water. I felt so bad for him but he did not want anything from me. He was guarding the Diner for filming later of some new movie he did not know the name of. He asked if I would come back to see him later that night but I did not. They were going to film at 10pm at it is was a school night for me. Julio doesn't mind his job. He has one as he stated and it is always something different. Well Julio it was pleasure to meet you and I appreciated that you allowed me to take some pictures. He kinda laughed at what I was doing. I guess he didn't think that the place was picture worthy. Thanks for the smile.

This security robot (autonomous data machine) was mostly a curiosity and photo op for shoppers. But it was meant to be practical. "Modern robotic security bridges the gap between artificial intelligence and human response"

Taken in the Yorkville area of Toronto today, outside the Four Seasons Hotel, during the Toronto International Film Festival.

This crowd had gathered for what appeared to be the imminent appearance of someone "important" - although there was no real consensus as to who that someone might be.

By the demographic of the crowd though, and a few homemade signs, it appeared that perhaps the Jonas Bros. were who they were waiting for....good thing we (my daughter and I) didn't stick around to find out - over an hour later when we returned to the area, the crowd was still waiting in vain for someone of note to emerge from the doors of the hotel...

I struggle to understand the allure of pop culture/the culture of celebrity at times - don't get me wrong, I can enjoy a little tabloid smut as much as the next person - however, there is always something slightly discomfiting to me about swarms of gawking onlookers gathering to catch a brief glimpse of someone famous - it likens the celebrity to an exotic zoo animal, and reduces us to the huddled masses, clambering to get a look at someone whose lifestyle we can't even beging to imagine. It's uncomfortable, and frankly, stupid, to me. After all, we're all just people, right?

On the other hand, if I were walking down the street minding my own business, and passed by someone like Ewan MacGregor minding his own business, that would be cool. :)

(Oh, and for the record, we did see a local celebrity emerge from the hotel doors - Jennifer Valentyne of Breakfast Television - much tinier in person that you would think...and dressed far more fashionably than she ususally is for her TV gig).

Outside the Supreme Court on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade

Frank is of Spanish decent, hailing from Texas, but now in dwelling in the greater Vancouver area. He may work security, but has the heart & fir of an evangelist. He has travelled to many countries in his years, spreading the Gospel: Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, & even Cancun. He would really like to get down to Argentina, to Buenos Aires particularly. He's obviously a family man, proudly talking of his daughter who is working on recording her first bilingual Gospel album!

Frank was one of a couple security guards at the Siezed of Darkness concert in White Salmon. After the concert, he asked me if I had gotten some pictures, and if I had gotten any of him. I told him I hadn't and he asked my why not... so I took the opportunity to add another stranger to my collection, explaining a bit about my project.
