Seven Magic Mountains, commissioned, produced and financed by the Art Production Fund (APF) and the Nevada Museum of Art, followed Rondinone's work Human Nature, a Public Art Fund project of monumental, stone stick-figures arranged in the highly man-made environment of Rockefeller Center in Manhattan—and depicts the opposite: highly artificial neon totems set in the natural environment.

The piece consists of 33 limestone boulders, each weighing 10 to 25 tons, arranged in seven towers 30 to 35 feet tall — secured by a solid backbone, with each stone painted a bright, fluorescent color. Approximately five years in the making, the work is located on the far southern end of Las Vegas Boulevard, 10 miles south of the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and St. Rose Parkway in Henderson, Nevada, near Dry Jean Lake, with a backdrop of the McCullough Mountains.

It's been awhile since i posted a lock shot, so here is one now

Sergeant CT-1701 "Striker", Azure Squad, 3rd Regiment of the 253rd Legion.

//Begin Log//

The 253rd had secured the shipyards and eliminated the strike leader, however, unfortunately, that was not the end of it. The Seppies have sent reinforcements. A lot of reinforcements. By the time we were done at the shipyards, the droids had already taken control of the foundry. Sergeant Jester gave us our orders. 1st Reg was sent on to locate and destroy B1 droid dispensers scattered throughout the main foundry. 2nd Reg was sent to free the Republic personel the Corellian insurgents had taken hostage. The 3rd Reg was sent to engage the main Separatist army on the main foundry floor. That meant Azure and I.

"Azure, mobilize, let's move out!" I barked "We'll move into the foundry, let's hunt some droids." It wasn't too long before we encountered a detachment of B2s. We ambushed them from a set of catwalks above their position. They returned fire quickly. "Scatter boys! We have their attention, draw them to the production lines" I ordered. We retreated to the safety of corridors, leaving the catwalks behind. "Split up! Vice, you and I will go up to the molten metal line, Cap, Core, take the right side walkway, lure the B2s to follow you." Vice and I found our way up to the foundry line. Along the way, we came across several dead troopers. I grabbed up a DC-15 rifle, checking to make sure its blaster cartridge still had a charge. "Let's go Vice, I want to draw out the Crab droids. Maybe we can use the metal to our advantage." We made our way along the upper walkway. Minutes later, we heard the distinct sound of blaster fire.

"Sergeant! Its Cap, we've run into some friends!" Further ahead, I saw Cap and Core back out of the hallway, returning fire at what was undoubtedly a squad of droids. As they cleared the entrance, they ran towards us. "Vice, come on!" We ran to assist our squadmates.

Suddenly, I heard the chirping beeps of a Crab droid. I snapped my head back, turning to face the six-legged droid charging towards me. Vice turned to face an SBD that came around a nearby corridor. He rushed the droid, batting it with his rifle and stunning it. Before it could react, he kicked it, forcing it to stumble backwards into the stream of molten metal. Its legs sunk into the metal, but the droid managed to right itself. Steam pockets began to form, and small jets of flame spit up as the droids legs began to heat up and melt. Vice responded quickly, blasting it in the head twice and watching it sink. In the meantime, I charged the Crab droid, firing my blaster at it, trying to make it halt to protect itself. The droid, stopped, razing one of it metal claws to shield its photoreceptor eye. As it did so, I jumped, scrambling atop its torso. I fired upon its weak point, just above the eye. The droid shuddered violently as I blasted it. It collapsed to ground, the torso leading in the pool of lava streaming underneath it. On the lower walkway, my men were engaging the squad of B2s that were moving in. I joined them, taking aim at the next B2 in line. "Azure, rush them. Get up close!" I said into my mic. I drew my vibroblade, my men doing the same. I ran, jumping over the railing and landing on the lower level. I dropped my rifle, evading the fire of the droid that was desperately trying to hit me. I impaled the droids head with my blade, Ripping it down and gouging a hole in the droid. I tore my knife out of its torso, attacking next droid in line. I stabbed its gut, slicing through and cutting th droid in half. In a matter of moments, the fight was over. "Command, this is Azure leader, we've secure section 5. Moving on to assist the other squads.

A Camera Club walk around a local creek turned up some interesting, mundane subjects. I thought this bollard and anchor rope on an old fishing boat would benefit from a monochrome treatment.

An UK Specialist Ambulance Service secure transport vehicle.

I have a number of photos of their marked secure vehicles, an example can be found here

This is one of a number of marked units, in addition to the marked vehicles there are also a number of unmarked secure transfer units.

The layout of most of the secure vehicles is similar to that of the inside of a 'normal' police support van, including the cage.

Didcot Heritage Diesel Day 4 May 2019. Gas turbine loco 18000 was an experimental machine, although it achieveed a working life of around 10 years on the GW main line out of Paddington. It was built in Switzerland by Brown, Boverie and entered service in 1949. Eventually it retuned to Switzerland but was secured for preservation and came back to the UK in 1990. In 2024, the loco has suffered the ravages of weather and does not look as good as it did in 2019.

Čičva Castla Ruins stand on a hill in Ondavská Highlands above the village Sedliská. The castle was built in the 14th century and became a guard fortress at the "Polish Gate".

It was the centre of the vast estate, which included more than 60 villages. In 1527, during the reign of Drughet family it was a meeting place and headquarters of the archive of Zemplínska stool. In the same year John Zápoľský conquered the castle and set it in fire. During the fire also the archive of Zemplin Stool had burned. However, the castle was renovated and repaired again.

In 1684 it was captured by the Thokoly troops. In 1704 it was seized by troops of Francis II Rákóczi. The damaged parts were repaired and secured the castle. It was until 1711 in the hands of the Rákóczi insurgents. Then Count Francis Barkóci gave it to imperial troops, who put him to demolish.

...I feel like letting my freak flag fly.

This is it, folks. This is your last chance. It could be your very last chance. Never mind party lines. Let's end this madness we've all lived through for the past 8 yrs and secure the future for our wives, sisters, and daughters. Listen to that little voice in the back of your head and vote your conscience.

I'll see you all on the other side!

I was camping this weekend out by the Deschutes River. I went on a little drive and found this near the town of Wasco. There were hundreds of these wind turbines in every direction as far as the eye could see. It's great to know how much of an effort we are making to produce sustainable energy. I want to go back soon and do a photo shoot in the town near here. There were tons of old buildings and what not that would look great to photograph; I'm thinking of making the two hour drive with a model might be a fun adventure and produce some nice results.
