For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind

Friday evening after the first session of a women's conference I attended, (long story - I worked the sound equipment, they supplied cheesecake) I decided to take the stairs. I walked down this hallway, which was quite dark. Chills went up the back of my neck (I shave my head- the hair can't stand up) and I resisted the feeling of fear confessing that scripture and rebuking the enemy. The stairs at the end of the hall were unfamiliar, but they went down. They ended on the second floor, but I was headed to the first. As I walked up the hall on the second floor I was blessed with a fantastic gallery of black and white photographs, and discovered the old chapel. You'll see it in a couple other shots. It is now used for wedding receptions and such. Very ornate and beautiful.

Since we know that God has not given you a spirit of fear, it must be coming from someone else - the enemy. Fear is the opposite of faith, as Jesus said "Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?(Mark 4:40) (Mat 8:26) ; also see Rev 2:10

When you feel fear, rebuke it, press through, trust God, believe and confess His word. It's likely the devil is trying to keep you from a blessing - unless that fear involves sky diving without a parachute or something foolish like that.

I had a request to put Scripture on some of my favorite images, so I will be adding some of my favorite verses. No comments are needed but if you want to, by all means, please do! Thanks for enjoying them!

Sarah and Samuel, sister and brother, read from the scriptures. They have memorized large portions of the Bible including the entire book of Revelation.

"Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience."

Full chapter:

Colossians 3 King James Version (KJV)

If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

6 For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.

8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

18 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.

19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.

20 Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.

21 Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.

22 Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God;

23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

25 But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

And timed perfectly, too. I'd just come back from a very cold and windy run. I whined every step of the way, but I did it.

The actual verse:

Whoever watches the wind will not plant; whoever looks at the clouds will not reap. As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things. Sow your seed in the morning, and at evening let your hands not be idle, for you do not know which will succeed, whether this or that, or whether both will do equally well. Light is sweet, and it pleases the eyes to see the sun. However many years anyone may live, let them enjoy them all. But let them remember the days of darkness, for there will be many. Everything to come is meaningless. You who are young, be happy while you are young, and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth. Follow the ways of your heart and whatever your eyes see, but know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment. So then, banish anxiety from your heart and cast off the troubles of your body, for youth and vigor are meaningless. (Ecclesiastes 11:4-10 NIV)

1 Chronicles 16:11,12 NKJV

seek the LORD and all His strength; seek His face evermore! Remember His marvelous works which He has done, His wonders, and the judgements of His mouth.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Life gives us some events that we can't control. People die, Disasters strike, love fades, jobs get lost, illness comes, and the list goes on...

We always want to fix any problem quickly, But oftentimes they are beyond our level of strength and understanding.

It is in those moments that we must humble ourselves before God, admit our weakness and ask for His help. Part of seeking the LORD is reading His word and spending time in prayer. As we become more familiar with with God's word, we will be able to recall His promises quickly. Oftentimes certain scriptures will come to mind that provide comfort for us in a bad situation.

I find it hard to worry when I am immersed in worship. Take some time to sit still and find a quiet place with no distractions. Spend that quiet time recognizing God's greatness and His glory. Express your pleasure and praise to the God who is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He is our comforter, Who promises to walk by our side so that we never have to face troubles alone.

[Joshua 1:9]- Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor dismayed, For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.///

Every believer can lean on this one awesome promise! No matter what we face, We are to take courage, believe Him, and do exactly as He says.

If you have never trusted Jesus Christ as your personal savior. Now is the time. Confess your sin, admit your faults and humbly ask for His forgiveness. [ Romans 10:9]- That if you confess with your mouth the LORD Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.///

Seek Him, Draw strength and wisdom from Him. Trust In Him.

China. Yunnan. Shangri-la Old Town. Dukezong.

On the Old Town Square is the scripture chamber (Gucheng Zangjingtang), which was earlier a Red Army Memorial hall to commemorate the Red Army's long march in the 1930s. At the opposite end of this hall, across the street is the Gulshan Park (Gulshan Gongyuan), which has a monastery with a commanding view of the town and its surroundings.

A nice big stone tablet.. which my great self proclaimed knowledgable wise guy dost Jitu says is written in the language of Pali...

k pass...

There's three of these and they're options for a poster for a friends wall, I need a quick artistic appraisal, some constructive criticism etc on which one to choose. If you have/know of any other images that'd work well with this scripture please let me know.

Thanks loads everyone.
