The overall layout of this small urban space did not change in the re-design. The existing paving was cleaned and slabs removed from around the edge of the upper level to accommodate flush planting beds. The unsightly asphalt roof of the shed was covered with luxury artificial turf to improve its appearance and add a dash of colour to the space. A large cube pergola was constructed in the centre of the space from green oak timber, from which a series of silver aluminium chain link curtains were hung to form a fluid decorative ‘wall’. The client’s existing table and chairs were placed inside this structure to create an unusual and intimate area for alfresco dining.
The client’s existing wooden daybed was moved to the rear left of the space and a bespoke water feature constructed against the rear wall. This feature was based on a traditional fireplace, to give this section of the garden a ‘living room’ ambiance. Constructed from chunky sections of green oak timber, the feature comprised a stainless steel water blade mounted on the fireplace ‘mantle’ from which water cascades into a cobble dressed reservoir in the flower bed below. The alcove above the mantle features a powder-coated steel ‘outdoor wallpaper’ on a Perspex backdrop. Taking pride of place above this was a life-sized moose head light, formed from polyresin and lit from within to create an eye-catching talking point.
The right hand boundary wall was adorned with a series of bespoke trellis screens of various dimensions. Fashioned from stainless steel mesh mounted on green oak ‘noggins’ to raise the screens away from the wall, these screens provide a unique frame upon which climbing plants can be trained.

Cannes Film Festival isn't all about the latest things to hit the big screen. When the sun goes down, movie projectors and screens are set up across the sea-front, paying tribute to some of the classics.
today was the second day of The Moxie screenings of all the SATO48 films. the day we were going to get to see our film on the big screen with tons of people watching!
i got up at 6am to get ready and go help Richard load up his pa for a wedding he is running sound for. right after i got up though i checked my phone and saw a text saying to meet him at seven insted so i went ahead and got ready then got back in bed for a while :)
i got to his place around 7 and i finally got to meet his new puppy Rufus who is super duper cute and really fun to play with
then we left and stoped at a gas station on the way out and he got us coffee which i was needing haha
then we got to the practice space and started the load up all the stuff. it didn't take us too long and when we got back to his place around 8:50am i headed home and he took off to set up wherever the wedding was. i stayed up and messed around on the computer trying to kill time until 2:00pm. our film played at 2:30 and 4:00. Ashley was going to meet us for the 2:30 showing and my Mam and Pap were going to come to the 4 o clock one.
after Kaleb and i were ready we headed out but had to stop at the bank on the way but still made it intime
Zach was already at The Moxie when we showed up and when 2:30 finally hit we were very excited!
if you didn't know each showing is one hour long with about 10 to 11 films each and ours was 8 in the line up so our film didn't actually play until 40 to 45 minutes in each showing
all our hearts were pownding waiting for ours to start and to finally see if people would like it. good news. everyone laughed really hard and even freaked out a little at our ending :D
the first showing had a the best crowd of the two screenings but it was still super awesome to see and hear people enjoying our film :)
Ashley, my Mom and Dad and Zach's parents and Brother Joe all loved our video and we got a lot of good jobs from people we didn't even know so i really hope come the awards ceremony that we actually get at least nominated for some awards or even win some this year!
after we left The Moxie we went to Chipotle to eat and then to the jordan vally park to take some senior photos for Zach's brother Joe.
i got some sweet shots and i found a lizzard while we were messing around haha
he got away before i got a very good look at him but he was pretty neat :) after that we just hung out for a bit talking about our film and all the fun we had with this whole SATO48 thing over the past few weeks. once we got home i uploaded our SATO48 film to our youtube (link below) and then i started promoting the crap out of it on my facebook and twitter haha Zach doesn't have work tomorrow so once he got home we all got on xbox live and played some good old modern warfare 2. it was a great night of playing too because we all used mp5's and ran all over the place wrecking kids haha i uploaded my photo of the day in between matches and kept promoting our video all night. we played until like 3 or 4 in the morning and then i finally went to bed because i was going to start running again in the morning after not doing it for three days haha
fact of the day:
There are 10 human body parts that are only 3 letters long (eye hip arm leg ear toe jaw rib lip gum).
