This Week in Bristol, Indiana: 10-18-14. Fall arrived in Bristol Indiana to usher in cooler weather. The weather has cooperated this year with sunny September and October days with cool nights, but not freezing, to activate the most vibrant and diverse colors. The science says that yellows and oranges are always there, under the green, but it takes sunny days in September and October to bring out the bright red colors.
At Bristol’s Oak Ridge Cemetery at the east end of town, a group of film photographers (who called themselves dinosaurs) from Illinois, Michigan and Elkhart, Indiana came to take photos against the fall backdrop. A number of Elkhart County Volunteers braved the chilly day to help clean up the cemetery and pick up leaves. Around town, including St. John’s Cemetery, along SR 120, at the Raber Golf Course, in Congdon Park, and behind the Red Bird Cafe, brilliant colors are painting the trees for a beautiful fall experience.
At the corner of SR 17 and SR 120 in the parking lot of the Marathon Station, Bristol Cub Scout Pack 31 held a Nelson’s Chicken & Pit Potatoes fund raiser to support pack activities.

Local Boy Scout Troop (15 out of Louisville Ohio) used the club for a camp out. They had a great weekend. They were working on their cooking merit badge. They cooked 3 different breakfast dishes over the fire for the parents on Saturday morning. Then during the afternoon they learned to clean the pheasants that they were cooking for dinner.
