A classic never goes out of style

I love this outpost. It does have a lot of mesh figures standing here and there but Camila did a wonderful job finding some alien ones and grouping them to make some fun photo vignettes. So far I found two bars you can go inside where you can sit and have a drink.A lot of the buildings look closed but if you touch the airlock door, they open and you can enter the bar, diner, boxing ring or whatever. It looks like a space outpost on an outer planet that is a mix of high tech and medieval village so you'll see a space flyer and also a butcher stall with carcasses to sell meat. I love the feel here. It's perfect to hang with friends and do a roleplay or do a photoshoot featuring scifi clothes.

If you join the 80 days group, you can rez things temporarily for taking pics which is how we're using the Firefly jetbike by Abranimations

Landscaping/Interior decorating of the scenic outpost by C̲a̲m̲i̲l̲a̲ (camila.runo).

A lot of the things are linked here probably to reduce prim count so for many things I can't provide details. So this time I'm going to pass on listing everything I can click on.

The original photo was of Chicago's Union Station where local commuter trains and Amtrak goes. Photoleap was used to convert it into an intergalactic transit station.

I ROBOT

This is one of the first books I ever read after leaving school and it took me down the long road of Science Fiction. Isaac Asimov, Philip K Dick, J G Ballard, Frederic Pohl, Jack Williamson, Robert A Heinlein and so many others.

So this is a little tribute to those imaginative folk who put pen to paper, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

The little clock character was a birthday gift of many moons ago, he seemed appropriate to go on the shelf too. A bit cranky now, he doesn’t stand up by himself but leans in a very casual way and is a good timekeeper.

The next bit is a bit weird, I don’t own a copy of Asimov’s “I Robot” because it’s not in Penguin Books and I only collect Penguin Science fiction but I might make an exception and buy it along with the ‘Foundation' series at some time.

Hope some of you have enjoyed Sci/Fi too and have appreciated those writers and their imaginations. Here are a couple of other titles that I think have gone down in history as classic fiction.

The massive UCS Millennium Falcon model. This is not mine, I borrowed it from Colin, who lives down the street. I had never seen this in hand and I must say that it’s far more impressive than any photograph can ever express. It’s HUGE!

Now, I am waiting for LEGO to release a new edition of this, a TFA version with the updated antenna. Come on, you know it’s coming, it has to be...

Incidentally, with this particular image I had Fullnilson in mind. I tried to do it a little differently but he has nailed this kind of thing pretty conclusively.

This was photographed exclusively for my "Small Scenes from a Big Galaxy" book.

Awesome futurist metro station I found by casualty in Barcelona, L10 Ciutat Justícia, that seems like you are in a science fiction spaceship. The picture is taken with the reflection provoked by the door glass. L9 and L10 are two newly added lines in Barcelona that are very modern and futurist: the trains are automatic and the stations are pieces of art architecturally.

note to self; must get out more...

The original photo was of a science fiction themed display at the John Michael Kohler Art Center. Photoleap was used to create this image.

I hope you like this photo session. Kept it simple for now.

I was honored that Tinker was able to pose for me!

There are so many keepers from this session, I'll have to figure out which ones should go into this or that group.

Love this pose by Tara of the group at FarQ Photos and Poses called The Kiss (Shop will be opening soon). You can see how it's supposed to be here:

www.flickr.com/photos/crowcomics/33983708848

Being me, I changed things up a little. Grecho Q (from the FarQ group) was kind enough to give me the pose modifiable -- since I wanted to do a space shot, I moved them apart a little so that they would seem like they were floating into a kiss -- and because I love the shadow it made.

Look at the shadow. In the pic, they look like they are floating into a mutual kiss. In the shadow, it looks like she is jumping him. I can almost hear his shadow saying, "Oof!" It's like there are two stories here : one for the light and one for the dark.

So what do you think?

Horizon zero Dawn

Fantastic space yacht in deep space

An old shot, I was just trying out a few different lighting designs, but its something I've kept coming back to, I think its the reflections on the head.

I followed it through the underbelly of the city, chasing through sewers, and subway tunnels. Chasing it on new legs, since it felt the need to take mine all those years ago. I now know. This is where it rests, this is where it feeds. It will be back, I will be ready.

Another strange creature from Frye’s Electronics, in Burbank, CA. A Giant Ant from the movie, “Them” (1954). These creatures are hanging up there in the rafters and peeping around the corners at you, while you’re shopping for your cyber needs. Clint Eastwood (who is not credited in this movie) had one line in the film. This ant is huge and is approximately 40 feet across, at it's widest point.

In the eerie light of a red dwarf star, a radiation-shielded truck scours the junk fields searching for anything that can be salvaged. Various factions vie for feudal dominance of the vast refuse fields. It is a dangerous place to be human...
