After a very long Covid-19 hiatus we've resumed our primary outreach work in school.
What that means is we bring kids from local primaries in to have some fun lessons often using resources that primaries don't have.
In this instance we're in a lab, and kids just love setting stuff on fire! To that end, it's an energy from food experiement. They seemed to have fun. :)
This was the first in Kristin Prather's series of Science and Math Workshops. They are for Intermediate School students to learn basic math and science concepts through FUN activities and demonstrations. They will get to make rockets, search the stars, and test mind-boggling physics theories. Let's not forget playing math games!
March 15 (Science) : 3-6 PM
March 29 (Math) : 12-3 PM
April 26 (Science) : 12-3 PM
May 3 (Math) : 12-3 PM
All workshops are in the Activity Room in the Friendswood Public Library.
Over 200 kids in Salvation Army youth programs across Indiana gathered in Indianapolis for a day of "May Science" fun at the annual Youth Rally on March 14, 2015.

For grades 1-5. An interactive science program where children can actually participate in experiments. Come prepared for some fun and wacky science!
For the exploits of science and adventure (sans the typical fortune and glory), I was able to get an MRI scan from a $7 million, 7 Tesla MRI at Vanderbilt University. There are less than 10 7 Tesla MRI's in the United States.

Helping my boyfriend work on a project for his chemistry class. Silly Putty and Play-dough... Gotta love college! Ha!
(I did not have my camera for this one, so I used his camera which was a Sony Cybershot DSC-W80)
Christina's program for the Tweens this week was Science Experiments. The kids got to try to create static electricity with by rubbing records on cloth and hair and trying to pick up tiny objects.
Today was Clark's birthday! It was a wonderful day of his now traditional birthday breakfast, going out to the movies and out for tacos for lunch, spending much of the day playing with his new 3DS, the best barbecued ribs I've ever made for dinner, after dinner Frisbee and driveway fun, and finished off with one of my best cakes ever-an Oreo cake. It was a happy day for all! :)
Teachers reviewed, read, and made connections to hands-on science explorations using children's literature during the Teaching Science Through Children's Literature workshop.
