For the exploits of science and adventure (sans the typical fortune and glory), I was able to get an MRI scan from a $7 million, 7 Tesla MRI at Vanderbilt University. There are less than 10 7 Tesla MRI's in the United States.

Helping my boyfriend work on a project for his chemistry class. Silly Putty and Play-dough... Gotta love college! Ha!

(I did not have my camera for this one, so I used his camera which was a Sony Cybershot DSC-W80)

seriously, i had no idea this stuff looked this toxic.

Today was Clark's birthday! It was a wonderful day of his now traditional birthday breakfast, going out to the movies and out for tacos for lunch, spending much of the day playing with his new 3DS, the best barbecued ribs I've ever made for dinner, after dinner Frisbee and driveway fun, and finished off with one of my best cakes ever-an Oreo cake. It was a happy day for all! :)

Teachers reviewed, read, and made connections to hands-on science explorations using children's literature during the Teaching Science Through Children's Literature workshop.

Atticus and I did an experiment from his science book today. The task was to take two cups of water, one cold and one hot, and let melted wax drip into each cup. We correctly predicted that the wax would cool more quickly in the cold water.

We both expected that the wax in the cold water would quickly form a drop. I was shocked that the wax formed into triangles. It didn't happen instantly. It actually dropped into the water much as a water droplet but quickly reshaped itself.

Atticus correctly predicted that the wax would spread out in the hot water. I thought it might form into strands. I was wrong.

Science Surfers class was exciting, and they were surprised when they discovered that oil and water don’t mix.

But why does it disappear in Mom’s food?!… That’s another mystery that they are waiting to solve!…
