In the first scheme of its kind in the UK, cyclists using Royal College Street in Camden Town are now separated from traffic by a series of robust planters containing an array of colourful shrubs and flowers, together with other pioneering measures. (Sept 2013)
The new layout sets aside nearly half of the street for cycling with two metre wide tracks in each direction.
Junctions on the street have also been changed to encourage motorists to reduce their speed and give way to pedestrians and cyclists.
The completed cycle route provides links from the Regents Canal to Euston and on to Bloomsbury and the West End. We also plan to extend the link north and south to connect Kentish Town to King's Cross and to open up a network of safe, high quality cycle routes. Consultation on the extension is planned for January 2014.

A public exhibition is being held at the Trinity Church Hall, Gilbert Street, Inverness, between noon and 6.30pm on Wednesday 26 March to give the public a chance to see and discuss plans for the second phase of the River Ness Flood Alleviation Scheme, which is scheduled to get under way at the end of April and continue for one year.
The Highland Council has awarded a £9.3 million contract to McLaughlin and Harvey Ltd, the company that recently built the new ferry terminal extension at Sconser, Skye.
Representatives of the Council and the contractor will be present to discuss the plans for the work and the temporary traffic orders required to allow the works to proceed.
Scheme drawings and visualisations of the flood wall will be displayed and the types of machinery used and sandstone samples will be available for viewing. Representatives from Inverness City Arts (ICarts) will also be present to discuss their proposals for the riverside art works and to listen to ideas for this section of the scheme.
Residents and businesses affected by the Phase 2 works have already received a letter advising them of the impending works which will take place on both sides of the river between Friars Bridge and the mouth of the river near the harbour.
The scheme will raise the existing flood defences along both banks of the river in the form of low walls and embankments. To enable construction of the flood scheme, temporary ‘Traffic Orders’ will come into force on streets affected by the works.
The contract will be carried out at the same time as works on the first phase of flood alleviation between Ness Bridge and Friars Bridge. Every effort will be made to minimise traffic disruption.

CASTLEGATE GETS GREY TO GREEN TRANSFORMATION
The scheme links Castlegate to the under-visited ‘hidden jewel’ of Victoria Quays and has transformed the almost redundant former inner ring road from a barrier to a green corridor with sustainable drainage, floral meadows, segregated cycle lanes and public art.
Castlegate (the Street) has been closed to vehicles to create a large riverside terrace with potential to accommodate outdoor seating for existing and future cafes and bars including the former public toilet due to open as the Two Rivers Bar and the Tap and Barrel, now under new management by the Peddlers Market team. The street will also hold the newly established Sheffield Pollen Market, the first fresh flower market in Sheffield, which will take place every third Sunday of the month.
Fifty-seven new trees have been planted as part of the scheme, along with a multitude of low maintenance perennial meadow plants and bulbs which will provide a year long succession of colour and natural habitat for insects, birds and mammals.
The scheme includes four distinctive, specially designed ‘totems’ containing ‘bug hotels’ which provide places for bees and other insects to thrive, along with nature and heritage insights.

The Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (RAF-BBMF) is administratively part of the Royal Air Force No 1 Group and operates from RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire. They have ''Spitfires'', ''Hurricanes'', a ''Lancaster'' and ''Dakota'' as well as Chipmunks in the flight.
The aircraft are regularly seen at events commemorating World War II, upon British State occasions, notably the Trooping the Colour celebrating Queen Elizabeth II's birthday and at air displays throughout the United Kingdom and Europe.
