Corn Cockle. Another image highlighting some of the plants included in a wildlife friendly scheme. A lot of these wild flowers were once a common sight around arable fields in the UK but have since been wiped out due to short sighted farming practices which in far to many area's of the country continue to this day!

It never ceases to amaze me how many gardens there are in Essex and the variety of planting they show, long may it continue. The Yellow Book lives. Although not to sure under present conditions.

The Steller's Jays are always watching and scheming up new plans to steal your food or win a handout.
At Bijoux Falls, I used to stop for a break to relax and enjoy the waterfall. Now, I stop to enjoy the antics of the local Steller's jay flock.
Within a minute of parking, they glide one by one down from the canopy. First, they size you up and if they determine that the chances of winning a snack are good, there will soon be a dozen or more perched on nearby branches.
I usually bring along a large bag of sunflower seeds or peanuts. The bolder Jays will come and stand on the picnic table and ask for seeds. Within minutes, I've had birds perched on my hands or shoulders.

#4880 - 2021 Day 131: We've committed to No Mow May, a scheme to not mow the grass through the month of May, to encourage pollenators in to the wild flowers. We have the ubiquitous daisies and dandelions of course, but already there are signs of other wild plants, such as acquilegia, fox and cubs, and selfheal ... I'll make a few more studies over the month I think.
Sunlight catching this RAF Typhoon, heading heavenward, with afterburners on. Very noisy, very exciting!
The paint scheme is a tribute to that worn by RAF aircraft for the 1944 D-Day landings, the black and white stripes added to increase visibility and hopefully reduce 'friendly fire' incidents, which were considered the main threat to aircraft at the time.
I find it interesting how British fighter aircraft are often named after violent weather systems that are almost completely unknown here - eg Hurricane, Tornado, Tempest, Typhoon. I suppose a plane called 'Persistent Light Drizzle' is hardly going to strike fear into the hearts of an enemy....
In early 1989 BN experimented with its Tiger-stripe scheme. One-of-a-kind GP50 3110 exhibits one of the modifications to the scheme. Passing under the NP-era signal bridge at the east end of the siding at Huntley, along the Yellowstone River.
"Right.... This didn't go so well the last time so we'll go through this again. And make sure you have the right guy this time... jeez..."

We find ourselves along the Hudson River at Croton Bay for "Transit Tuesday", where we see a southbound (railroad eastbound) diesel train heading over the causeway. The two FL-9's wear what I think was the best paint scheme ever applied to these units, although I'm sure some will argue the NH scheme was right up there too (and it probably was). The train being pulled by these two units is made up of former SEMTA cars, which were picked up when Michigan gave up on it's operation out of Detroit.
Arriving in Meriden is Amtrak shuttle train 479 with P42DC 108 in the Phase VI 50th Anniversary paint scheme.
Another view of Loch a'Chuilinn which is near the Hydro Electric scheme at Grudie. As I have said this is usually my first stop and it is always so special to be here.
