On Mount Abbot, during SPS scheduled weekend climbs of Mt. Abbott and Bear Creek Spire, Sept. 19-20, 1987. The weekend outing was cut short when Donna O'Shaughnessy was injured near the summit of Abbott and had to be rescued on 9/19/87. Rescue helicopter approaching summit of Mt. Abbott to evacuate Donna after overnight bivouac. [From attached note by Donna O'Shaughnessy: Maris Valkass and Tom Duryea, Leaders. Other participants included Brian Smith, Hirsch Kolp, George Tucker, Tina Stough, Don and Ursula Slagel. Approx 1:45 PM I was hit just above left boot by large rock. The Guys doctors me up and belayed me up to the plateau (they taking about 15 mined to bag the peak while others helped me). Maris stayed with me while othered effected the rescue. Tom reclaimed the peak, arriving about 8:00 PM with sleeping bags, eta. My hero!] Chopper rescue took place about 10:00 AM. Note doors removed from chopper. Due to altitude, chopper could only take me--no Tom, Maris, or packs.

Return to the Weoley Castle Ruins on Alwold Road.
The walk from Selly Oak Park up Alwold Road to the ruins of Weoley Castle.
The first gate that I used in late 2015 was padlocked, so got these views through the fences on Alwold Road.
Weoley Castle is the remains of a fortified manor house located in the Birmingham district of Weoley Castle, a primarily residential area, in the English West Midlands. Owned by Birmingham City Council and administered as a community museum by Birmingham Museums Trust, it is a Grade II listed building and a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
The archaeological evidence suggests a Norman foundation for the site which was surrounded by a moat and bank topped by a timber palisade.

Footings and foundations of a fortified manor house. Sandstone with 6 towers
and a deep moat. These works date from 1264 when Roger de Somery was licensed
to crenellate his manor house. A survey of 1422 gives a detailed plan. Fragments
of early C13 wooden buildings have been discovered, indicating early use of
both horizontal and vertical weatherboarding.

This is my schedule for the day. Business, business, business!

I mainly relied on a PDF version of this on my mobile. Way too many people on Saturday to check this schedule frequently.

Proposed run schedule. For cross training each hour of cycling or mtn biking is equivalent to 5 miles of running. Rest days will include either walking or cycling because I am bad at rest days - but no running on rest days, generally.

Our schedule for graduation & prom....wow...the photos were cheap, huh? Too bad no one ever got the prom photos!
Thanks, Robert Koenig! I have to ask though, why did you save this?
The event was scheduled to be a 10K cross country run; unfortunately Area I weather of late has damaged the course so nearly 60 runners took to the roads of Camps Casey and Hovey on July 27.
On hand to make the award presentations was the Commander of 1st Brigade Special Troops Battalion Lt. Col. Mark Danner.
Even though this was an individual competition, Danner could see the fellowship among the runners and he liked what he saw during the contest.
“Esprit de corps… fosters unit pride… we can’t ask for anything more for our Soldiers,” said Danner. “This is an example of what we’re all about here in the 2nd Infantry Division.”
Runners competed in five categories and here are the individual results:
Women's Senior:
1st place: Leilani Douthit
Women's Open:
1st place: Spc. Robin Thomas
2nd place: Christine Sing
3rd place: Kendra Cox
