There is constant word about global warming and climate change. Any reasonable conservative knows that this is all fake news propagated by lefty politicians trying to undermine legitimate business interests with their socialist dreams. They even have the audacity to claim that unless we change our ways the coastal areas of the world will be flooded by the melting polar icecaps. To top things off, some of my liberal neighbors have been seriously looking at the houseboat real estate market, claiming that it is the neighborhood of the future. I must admit that after reading the Old Testament about the Great Flood and Noah's Ark, moving into a houseboat might be a bit less labor-intensive a project than boat-building. It could have a few other benefits as well, such as the elimination of the need to mow the lawn.

Stunning Scientific Discovery

Amateur botanist and conspiracy theorist, Scott Holcomb, has discovered a living fossil, the Woolly Pine, thought to have gone extinct during the last ice age. The botanic sleuth stumbled upon this specimen while surveying a secluded forested zone of Bishop Pines in coastal California. Like the venerable Sequoias, this unique tree beat all of the odds and survived climate change.

Mr. Holcomb, in spite of his soiled record of phony claims, plans to present his discovery to the scientific community soon.

"When the undercarriage was retracted after take-off from Winnipeg, the nose and left main undercarriage failed to retract. The pilot decided to

return to Winnipeg but was then unable to fully extend the left main undercarriage. After troubleshooting failed to rectify the problem, a landing

was made with the left main undercarriage only partly extended and it subsequently collapsed on touchdown. The aircraft came to a stop on the

runway resting on its underbelly cargo pod. The accident happened in darkness (1835L). The aircraft was operating a cargo flight to Sandy

Lake, Ontario.

A subsequent examination found that a bolt had sheared at an undercarriage linkage connection and the left main undercarriage actuator was damaged."

This was taken through a window at the end of the corridor where my room was on the 27th floor of the Hilton Financial District in San Francisco. I normally avoid taking through a window but in this case the choice was to miss a scene like this or take it through the window! I shielded the lens with my hand as best I could but there are still some faint lines from the incomplete shading in the upper right which I have done my best to get rid of with some subtle editing.

I have been having a terribly frustrating time with my cheap crummy HP scanner since it occassionally works with Vuescan. When it does, I can pull off a very reasonable scan like this (this is a stack of eight scans to get better tonality and less sensor noise from the scanner). Most of the time, however, Vuescan completes the scan without saving a file.

I absolutely loved my week in San Francisco. I stayed in a beautiful place very close to where my course was and I left with RHSCA and RHCE qualifications under my belt!

Oh, and some nice pics!
