Najran fortress.

Najran's most outstanding monument, Najran Fort, has all the signature characteristics of the Asir region: mud-brick fortications, fairy-tale turrets, crenellations with whitewash flourishes and small windows suggesting more than they reveal. Throughout the fort (which was also a palace), superbly carved doors and window shutters open onto whitewashed rooms with ceilings supported by palm-trunk beams.

Construction began in 1942 and the fort's 60 rooms were designed to form a self-sustaining complex - perhaps a reflection of the fact that Najran's new Saudi rulers had less than complete faith in the Imam of Yemen's renunciation of the claim to Najran. The fort fell out of everyday use in 1967, when Saudi-Yemeni relations stablised.

For the company magazine, I was asked to shoot photos of the Saudi College hires. Here are some of my favourites.

It's always quite a sight at Warton when we get the Saudi Typhoons coming out to play. Here we have ZK605/8006, fully painted and ZK607, still in primer which I think will become 8007. Here we see the pilot of ZK607 giving the thumbs up for departure on runway 25, both departing on re-heat :)

Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia

A view of the main entrance to the Maraya Concert Hall in AlUla, Saudi Arabia. Designed by the Italian architect Gio Forma, it is the largest mirrored building in the world and devilishly difficult to photograph. Sometimes you need people in your picture to give scale and context because the building reflects the surrounding landscape and has minimal physicality, more of a laser lightshow or a hologram than a building. It is utterly incredible, endlessly fascinating like all great works of art.

Australian forces sent a small task force up to Saudi Arabia. After discussing terms of alliance and quite frankly mentioning the name Lawrence of Arabia the monarch along with the main tribe leaders of Saudi Arabia ally with Australia and the rest of the Allies. They also have agreed to repel any attacks from the axis forces and the King has given military access along with their nuke privileges to the Allies. The task force of Australians now rides around Saudi Arabia reforming the tribal alliance the once was and preparing the nukes along with preparing their mechs.

Jeddah, a historical crossroads of pilgrims and traders, is the most fascinating of Saudi Arabia's big cities. The traditional gateway to Mecca, Jeddah has a decidedly cosmopolitan atmosphere and is the undisputed commercial capital of Saudi Arabia.

Al Ula is characterised by its attractive natural scenery marked by the reddish sandstone inselbergs carved by natural agencies into beautiful and attractive shapes. Sand dunes and inselbergs combined together to form a wonderful display of thrilling nature. During winter and spring, after the rain, the areas turns into green fields attracting the inhabitants and visitors from outside the region.

Al Ula is situated northwest of Saudi Arabia. It is about 400 km north of Al Madinah.
