On the highest peak in Jordania - Jabal Umm ad Dami (1854 meters above sealevel). Saudi Arabia in one side, Jordania the other. Decided to climb it with my good friend Ott, since the mountain looked easily "takable" observing it from below. It turned out among the most painful experiences to climb this mountain, the worst possible time - early afternoon during July - the peak hottest time of the year. The rocks have been heated-up during morning with perfect angle from the sun, you could barely touch them, they were so hot, yet while you had to climb using your feet at hands, they radiated so much heat from the bottom plus the scortching Sun above you - easily over +40-45C over the rocks that in the end we both felt we're very near heart-attack, literally, while we were both young and fit guys back then. Clothes fully wet through with my own sweat from down to my trousers. Even the local arab who brought us here with his 4x4 thought we must be crazy to do this at this time and this time of the year. He was right - never again! At least I got a good lesson and a pic :]

Fifa is a montanious distinguished area in the south-west of Saudi Arabia and contains a lot of attractive sites.
Al Ula is characterised by its attractive natural scenery marked by the reddish sandstone inselbergs carved by natural agencies into beautiful and attractive shapes. Sand dunes and inselbergs combined together to form a wonderful display of thrilling nature. During winter and spring, after the rain, the areas turns into green fields attracting the inhabitants and visitors from outside the region.
Al Ula is situated northwest of Saudi Arabia. It is about 400 km north of Al Madinah.
I first went to work in Saudi Arabia after a bit of grad school. In the spring of 1985, I was posted in the mountain city of Taif at the Taif Ordnance Corp & School. Jay was working there at the time. The majority of our photos from this era were subsequently lost in a house fire. These remaining paper photos have now been scanned and the originals destroyed.
The English Electric Lightning fighter developed for the Royal Air Force was capable of achieving Mach 2 speeds and was in front-line service with the RAF between 1960and the late 1980s. The type also secured export orders from Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. A Saudi Lightning is preserved at Pima Air & Space Museum, near Tucson.

Two Hawks Mk65s of the Saudi Air Force taking off. They are from 88 squadron based at Tabuk.
The spotters day at 'KB' was amazing. Perfectly organized (again) and with some great aircraft and helicopters.
But most of all: instead of the predicted rain and thunder, it was sunny most of the day with only one minute of rainfall. All **** passed us on the left and right side, making for a nice backdrop.
