Drove out of Varanasi about 10km to Sarnath. Streets were chaotic. For a city of 2 million +, Varanasi doesn't have one working traffic signal. It's amazing traffic moves. I declare myself ignorant, but I don't know what those pieces of cloth mean in the buddhist religion. In Sarnath, just outside of Varanasi (and the nicest thing about varanasi) the Buddah gave his second sermon after enlightenment. An offspring of an offspring of the tree under which he was enlighted was planted here and around the tree these flags with prints are hung. I assume that those are prayers hung by devout followers. Anyone?
