After attending the Fandango Fronterizo on the San Diego/Tijuana border, my son spotted a bedraggled bird that had washed up in the surf. Turns out it was an Osprey clutching a large, very pregnant fish it had snared with its powerful claw. It was too heavy a load for the osprey until its feathers dried out. Meanwhile, it took turns alternately glaring at me for getting too close and then at a pesky batch of seagulls that were hoping for a free lunch - which I'm happy to report, they didn't get.
