Rocket was the first practical steam locomotive and provided an engineering blueprint for all steam locomotives that followed. It was the first machine that enabled humans to travel faster than a horse and included revolutionary design features such as a multi tube boiler. Rocket worked on the Liverpool to Manchester railway and is on display at the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester. The museum is based at Liverpool Road station, the Manchester terminus of the Liverpool and Manchester railway and this is the first time in 180 years that Rocket has returned to it's home, normally being housed in the Science Museum in London.
