Birth sampler for my amazing nephew who joined us this past year. The pattern is "Watch Over Me" by Karen Kluba -- www.rosewoodxstitch.com/catalog.php?item=149&catid=26... -- with a few modifications (added another border for the great-great-grandparents, used first names instead of initials, made the baby bird purple instead of red or blue, etc.) I picked this pattern because a lot of birth sampler patterns are a little bit too "babyish," and I wanted something that would be appropriate at any age -- and also because I adored the "family tree" idea that would make this not only a commemoration of his birth but a record of his ancestors.
