I purchased a sampler panel of French General La Petite Ecole. I cut each of the samplers out and then added some ric-rac, backed them with a light pink fabric, then strung them on some double-fold bais binding to make a bunting for my little girl. I think it looks lovley hanging above her closet and she loves having all of her letters displayed.

Seeing as I was making Loyal Union Sampler as a BOW I thought I would be really clever and make a matching quilt for our king single beds at the same time!! I am using a range of fabrics called Primrose Lane that I have been hoarding for about 10+ years!
A letter from Ulysses S. Grant to his wife Julia on August 4th, 1841 from the Presidential Papers microfilm scanning that's going on at LC. The Sampler is a Python/Django app that allows curators to randomly sample images as they come in, before shipments are approved. Seeing the images roll in makes me think how valuable it would be for the images to end up on the public web, where they could be referenced and transcribed (crowdsource like DocumentCloud?) ... instead of just being written to archival storage (tape) and sitting unused.
As of 11:03 AM September 1, 2011 it has allowed curators to view 1,109.896 images from a population of 12,137,015.
Sinds 1990 verwerk ik mijn proeven, restanten, schetsen, ideeen in Samplers van 1 x 1 m. Als een persoonlijk archief, niet te koop.

These Lovely mini-skeins of yarn were carefully hand-dyed in small batches, sourced from recycled/preloved wool yarn.
I dyed & painted them in all sorts of vibrant colors; you get one skein of each:
- turquoise
- golden yellow
- candy pink
- grassy green
I have developed an eco-friendly dyeing process that uses no harsh chemicals, but gives deep, vibrant colors that are permanent. I use only clean high-quality, recycled yarn for the production of many of my products. Many knit items that would normally be disposed of can be unraveled for their yarns!
Specs:
- 2 ply, "worsted-chunky" weight
- Each mini-skein is approx 20 yards in length; so you get 80 yards total.
- 100% wool, handwash gently with mild soap, let air dry.
- perfect for knitting, crocheting, weaving small projects, use these to edge a larger project, a unique gift, or as an addition to your fiber arts palette!
Worked by Maria Forster 1869-1932, to celebrate the Marriage of her sister Sarah to John Samuel Heeler on January 22nd 1891 at St Nicholas Church Warwick.
My wife and I lunch at Fazoli's in Fayetteville, NC. We each had the classic sampler which has spaghetti, Fettuccine Alfredo and lasagna.
Wool knitted afghan comprised of 12 sampler squares. A Nikki Epstein design, but modified somewhat by me. I completely changed two of her squares. Barbara Walker's Spider (in notes, above, is one). These are, as seen in the photo above, yet to be blocked, embellished and assembled. I am hoping to be finished with all but the border by this time next week,
a Logcabin star variation - because someone special likes log houses and looking at the stars
a wonky rail fence - because it looks a bit like a autumnal landscape with a river, fields and forest
a starlight tree block - because someone loves going into the wood
and a honey bee variation - well because of honey, what else...
Detail of the join and the edging. I didn't care for the busy popcorn edging in the original pattern so after completing the first huge round of single crochet around the entire edge, I did a simpler edging of alternating dc and sl st. Makes a nice texture and a very neat edge.
Kez is my goddaughter so it was lovely to be able to design a sampler for her wedding. This is my favourite quote for wedding pieces - I've used it several times before.
Vogafjos restaurant in Mývatn, northeastern Iceland. We ate all of it except the skyr (Rob had a taste, and I had about half of mine), then caused inadvertent offense when we asked to see the dessert menu: The skyr was the dessert. Another menu item involved skyr served with a fruit compote, so I asked for a little of that to go with the rest of mine. (I like skyr — and this was very good — but, for my taste, that's a lot of skyr to eat plain.)
My first "real" quilt, made during a fantastic 9-week beginner's class at my LQS. I'm lost selecting fabrics, but I did my very best with workmanship. My fabric plan can be seen in the rail fences: one water-drop batik in each blue, green, and yellow; one freckle in blue, green, and yellow; and one color+white for each. It's a total mess color-wise, but it is durably constructed and *most* of the points are where they're supposed to be. I learned a LOT in this class.
