My sample envy block came out a bit too small so I made another and turned this one into a little mini quilt/ mat.
The seabed samples are processed on the survey vessel, they are put through a wet sieve to seperate the larger material.

Cores are tubes of earth retrieved by drilling a borehole. Boreholes are often drilled in advance of construction involving foundations or to study the deep layers of archaeological deposits without excavation. We use samples from the cores for dating and environmental purposes.

This experiment was very interesting. Although I like all of the finished yarns I had pretty strong preferences for my project as soon as I saw the skeins, but the swatching really made me appreciate how nice they all are even more.
The yarns spun up slightly differently than I had expected in some cases, but the swatching was really where the difference in expectations came out. I wasn't thinking after seeing the skeins that I would like all of them so much, but I do! They're all beautiful but I think I still prefer my original choice the best for a sweater for me.
