Sam Houston was a famous Freemason in Texas. He was apparently a member of the Forrest Lodge in Huntsville, according to the Texas State Historical Marker there.
It was rumored that after defeating Mexico's General Santa Anna in battle, Houston spared the General's life after Santa Anna flashed Masonic hand signals to him, requesting or demanding special treatment.
Two shots in memory of Sam. They were taken about a week before he was put to sleep. We had had a terrible time with fleas, and even with him gone it's taken us a while to get them all out of the house. He had to enjoy/endure(!) regular shampoos, brushes and even vacuuming to relieve his itching! Poor old fella!

Sam is 20 years old and is a very interesting person. Sam has worked as a barber, photographer and also a vocalist. He strikes me as the type of person that will be good at whatever he tries. I met Sam with stranger #9 Brooke in Forrest Place in the city of Perth. They were on their way into the city on a first date which is the same circumstances as the last couple I took photos of. I guess it's not that surprising as Forrest Place is adjacent to the main city train station. Thanks Sam for taking the time to chat and allowing me to take your photo and holding the reflector so expertly :)
