Less than 48 hours after we finished opening presents, we were on a plane headed to Alabama to keep on celebrating. The girls sat with me as always. And of course, it’s important to review all the safety procedures before taking off.

Think safe ! Work safe! Be safe !

Safety at work is not something just happens. It requires a personal commitment to work in a safe manner, to look after your own and your work mate’s safety. Promoting a safe environment and preventing injury in the construction place is a top priority for all employee

Many people believe that working in the construction field is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. Accidents can occur anywhere anytime which eventually may lead to death. Even though as humans we cannot avoid accidents due to constant change in working environment, we sure can do our best to prevent it. According to the bureau of statistics, there are about 150,000 construction-related injuries each year. The biggest problem that cause all these accidents is the fact that safety regulations are not emphasize enough to the workers in certain projects.

Since the working environment for every construction project is different, certain safety regulations can be more significant than others. I personally believe that educating the workers about the specific sites can help prevent accidents to them. In this way, the workers can be aware about the risks that can happen. Over 1,000 people get seriously injured and die each year because of the risks in the construction.

Maldivian Crew onboard a flight to HAQ... Safety Demo

This rope bridge at the sugar shack has inspired me to do something similar in our backyard. I can't wait to see the reaction of the safety-first parents! Although Taz looks a bit aprehenisive but is really just waiting patiently for his turn.

puerto baquerizo moreno on the island of san cristobal is the capital city of the galapagos - the self-proclaimed "Capital of Paradise".

unless you're really into cheap souvenir stands selling "i love boobies" t-shirts there's really no reason to ever visit the place. it was one thing when everyone flew in and out of the san cristobal airport and it was the port of departure. but, for safety reasons, the airport is closed for "repair" indefinitely and all commercial flights now use the military airport on the island of baltra.

however, to protect the local i-love-boobies-based economy, the national park service REQUIRES every tour to spend a day there. most of the group drank beer at a port bar or went back to the boat to read and nap.

i tried to capture the local ambience...

Now that Gru has three kids running around the house, he had to make things a little safer to protect his girls. A case in "point" is the protective covering on all of the spikes in his favorite iron maiden.

Stand up paddle boarding is a popular pastime on the creeks of the Gold Coast. Kids love the adventure of the calm water but safety and supervision come first.

At the Mathewson Exhibition Center for the National Federation of Professional Bull Riders. I love a good rodeo!

I felt obligated to use my "month lens", but it left a lot to be desired in regard to image quality. The alternate lens I brought, the A70-210/4 was a MUCH better performer.

Great fun, and lots of opportunities for photos!

The helmets happened to be outside my house, left over by the workers upgrading my block of flats.

The condition of being safe; freedom from danger, risk, or injury.

The helmets illuminated by sunlight is to remind workers to wear their helmets when they are working. And the dark area on the right is to illustrated the dark period they have to undergo if they were to be injured without their helmets on.

Take a look at the B&W version too.
