Mut zu Licht und Schatten. Im Schatten gelingen mir meist die guten und ausgeglichenen Portraitfotos. Die wohl besseren und interessanteren gelingen aber im Sonnenlicht. So wie hier beim "Portraitkurs Herbst" mit Stefan Mayr von Lighthouse mit der attraktiven Sabrina.
This is a portrait of my friend, Sabrina...I took it with the original Sony A7 and an old and battered Meyer Görlitz Trioplan 50mm/F2.9! The original file was, well, extremely blurred as were the other ones in the shoot and I thought I'd have to chuck them and start over. But then I thought I'd try putting it through TopazLabs Sharpen AI and it performed a little miracle on it, I think! Of course, it looks nowhere near a shot of the A7Riv plus 135/f1.8, but that wasn't the point, of course! I'm ultimately very pleased with the result. I'd love to hear what you think!

Soft portrait of an incredibly talented and driven student of mine of past years. Driven and passionate is putting it lightly for sure. Nikkor- s 50 1.4 under a work lamp.
Late summer early light dawns over Blue Lake and the ragged peaks surrounding the Sabrina Basin. A bit windy on this morning, eliminating any chance of a great sunrise reflection in the lake. The view is hard to top in the Sierra, no matter the conditions.

Lake Sabrina is located just outside Bishop, California to the southwest along Route 168. The early morning refection of the surrounding mountains and clouds on the calm lake provides a near perfect mirror image.

…….Had to have a trip to Shrewsbury this afternoon and we decided to call for takeaway coffee at a riverside Cafe here (called Stop), we park on one side of the river & walk over Greyfriars footbridge to collect our coffee’s. A timely boat trip today gave me my #076 shot of the day - taken from the bridge on my phone in Apple RAW and edited in Lightroom. The boat is just turning around just short of the English Bridge then it will return to the Welsh bridge. You can just see the Abbey in the background - or what's left! This is just the Nave that remains following the reformation which gives you a sense of how big it must have been. Alan:-)

Last night we went to Sabrina Starke's performance in Tobacco Theater Amsterdam, together with our daughters. What a great artist. The new Aretha Franklin, but three times as swinging. Each of us had a seat, but we couldn't resist dancing. And taking pictures of course.
I can really recommend her music.

I always try to focus manually on the eyes. Because of the light circumstances, set the aperture most of the time wide open. Sabrina was really dancing and moving all night and that's why her eyes are slightly blurred. But is it disappointing ? The microphone and her hand are more in focus as a transducer of her vibrant voice. I love the old portraits of the first Jazz musicians and tried to achieve something similar.
47 degrees, 33 mph winds and a giant hail storm right before the shoot! I'm not sure how Sabrina made it happen in conditions like that but she sure did.
