Dahlia has a rich symbolism: the flower stands for wealth and elegance, and also for love and involvement. It’s a perfect flower to express your love! For the Aztecs, Dahlia was a religious symbol, besides food the flower was used in different types of ceremonies. Colors, Shapes, and Availability How many beautiful colors do you want to have? There is so much choice, from the gorgeous Black Fox to Café Au Lait (peach). Every year, there is more and more choice. Not only in color, but also in petal and flowerhead shape. There are now more than 1000 species, and we can divide those into single and double flowering. Beautiful pompon and ball dahlias, or the totally different (semi) cactus Dahlias. My neighbor's, and they do attract a lot of butterflies.

However, because of the special interest mosquitoes have on me, I could never think of sitting near them and waiting for that perfect butterfly moment. Just a few minutes out that evening, I was kissed multiple times.

Yes I could always apply repellent but nothing could completely stop their love for me!

I am not at all religious but I find rosaries so beautiful. I did try to shoot it in a respectful manner as I know this means a lot to a lot of people.

I deliberately chose this photo of Kriebstein Castle in Saxony, a small player with long exposure, for today.

And this is due to the symbolism of the circles in the foreground created by the movement of the water.

Right now, at the end of a year and the beginning of a new one, we often think of "a new round" of a repeat. We feel the same way about birthdays or even in the morning, at the beginning of a new day. In the big picture we call it the cycle of life. But all of these are, fortunately, not circles, because that would mean that we would inevitably have to return to our starting point again and again. But we don't have to.

With every "circumnavigation" we have the opportunity to see something new, learn something new and change something. We have the opportunity to grow and develop further. And ideally, each circle is at a higher level than the circle before it.

In this way, the circle of life becomes an ascending spiral of life, the incline of which we can determine ourselves every single day.

With this in mind, I wish you all a good transition into the coming year.

Adelaide Crapsay.

Just when i was getting tired of shooting orange larches against a flat blue sky a feather shaped cirrus cloud appeared in the sky above the Langkofel Group adding that little extra detail i needed so bad.

I knew about the meaning white feathers have in symbolism so i took it as a good sign and happily shot a bunch of pictures in panorama mode as the cloud quickly vanished to the east.

Last night, while processing this image, to my great surprise i found out that somebody had entered the field of view unnoticed and was innocently walking under the trees in front of me, he's visible in every frame... I admit this unwanted presence is a minor issue but what about that good sign??

HAPPY Thusday.... Stay safe and healthy.

The Easter Bunny is a folkloric figure and symbol of Easter, depicted as a rabbit bringing Easter eggs. Originating among German Lutherans, the "Easter Hare" originally played the role of a judge, evaluating whether children were good or disobedient in behavior at the start of the season of Eastertide.[1]

*****************************************************

Rabbits have been popular with many Japanese people, and their motif has been used on various items such as table wares, kimono, obi and general merchandise.

Rabbits only drive on forward and don’t step back, so they have been considered lucky as a symbol of advancement.

Back to the Berlin travelogue. The Sony centre is a Berlin building with a strong symbolic significance. It was created during the massive urban redevelopment after the fall of the Wall and the reunification of Berlin.

It was designed by Helmut Jahn (engineering: Ove Arup & Partners). Shown here is the dome of the building, shot from the terrace of a Brauhaus.

More information about the Sony Centre is here.

More symbolic architecture, but from an other era, built shortly after the creation of the Wall in the Hansa Vertel for the Interbau 57 exposition is here, here, here and here.

It is spoken by the native Māori people and is used to express their culture, heritage and identity. Te Reo Māōri was the only language in New Zealand until the 19th century arrival of Europeans. Prior to this there was no written word therefore Māori communicated through symbolism. The detailing in carvings, knots and weavings were the way Māori recorded stories for future generations.

Hansen Jacobsen provided the sculpture with the following poem:

"Death, soon it is invisible, hides in the dust of the road, but catches up and reappears when we least expect it, still creeping in our footsteps, impossible to escape."

I think this was the first time I saw a lotus flower and a pond full of lotus plants. My husband and I thought the seed pods look just like shower heads.

Many gods or sacred beings of Asian religions are depicted as seated on a lotus flower. In Buddhist symbolism, the lotus represents purity of the body, speech, and mind as if floating above the muddy waters of attachment and desire.

One could talk about the different architecture styles between front and back. One could talk about all the details you see. The space between statues, some sort of hierarchy you see.

Is this a wild allium?

So symbolism in photography. We have seen it through the centuries with artists. It is interesting to see how people interpret the symbols artists put into their art.

This photo contains a few... I hope you enjoy the thought process behind it, and thank you to my dearest friend ~Christian~ for giving me the idea and then me putting my spin on it.

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger

Stand a little taller

Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone

What doesn't kill you makes a fighter

Footsteps even lighter

Doesn't mean I'm over 'cause you're gone

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, stronger

Just me, myself and I

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger

Stand a little taller

Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone

Looking back through some images taken on a visit to St. Mary's church Hickling Norfolk, earlier this year.
