I've had stabbing, biting heartburn for... ohh, the last 12 hours.
It is not awesome.
And so I give you this image, which simulates the giant sucking vampire maw that has leeched onto my esophageal lining.
Ow, ow, ow.
Going back to Biotar. This is 12 blades earlier preset (split ring) model.
Biotar, and for that matter, double gauss, signature swirly bokeh. It is a bit gentlier than the Helios one. A touch of colder blueish color too.
Willow tree branches in motion above water.
Olympus EM1 + USSR Helios 44-2, half-second exposure, handheld.
The scenery is lovely but I had a bit of trouble when climbing down the wall of rocks to get the water images, needless to say, I came off worse than the surrounding landscape.
This was unfortunately another disappointing sunset. A faint crimson hue was quickly smothered under layers of stifling blue.
On a positive note, this created a freedom from the usual frantic drive to scramble around looking for different compositions in the fading light.

Captured in: Smithtown, NY.
With the weather being pretty darn cold in the New York area this winter, I decided to try my hand at some indoor photography to avoid those recent sub-zero wind chills. I started experimenting with light painting in an attempt to stay creative while the polar vortex is in town.
I hadn't done much in the way of light painting before, but really enjoyed playing with different colored lights, exposure settings, and subjects. This one was created using simple flashlights, orange and green colored gels, a fiber optic light brush, a mirror, and a small crystal ball.
My son took an immediate interest in the process of light painting (especially once he saw some of the cool effects we could create), and was my assistant in crafting this first image. He's already trying to come up w/ some new ideas for our next attempt.
Hope everyone is staying warm, and having a great start to the New Year. It's good to be back with you all again, and looking forward to seeing everyone's work in 2018!

I recently returned from a 4 day photography assignment in West Virginia (USA).
During that time I went from Babcock State Park where I captured Glade Creek Grist Mill to a number of waterfalls in around Davis, West Virginia.
Here's one of my captures of Elakala Falls.

Another sunset shot from St Annes on Sea. I was surprised to see these unusual swirls in the sand here. I have not seen them before here and it probably has something to do with all the coastal re-engineering going on on the coastline here!
the structure you see in the centre middle ground is the old docking station that used to be at the end of the pier. Steamers would land here in the Victorian era and carry passengers around the coast to Blackpool, Southport and Liverpool.
Another pic form yesterday's trip to Padley Gorge in the Peak District. I know the "smooth water" isn't everyone's cup of tea...
Thank you for looking.
Spesso mi piace passeggiare, nei campi dietro casa, all'alba o al tramonto, in cerca di qualche piccolo angolo di bellezza che la natura offre inconsapevolmente all'occhio avido di armonie.
Come questa campanella bianca, isolata, a librarsi ondulando sulle spighe mature...
Buona giornata
