MMTB SW6 type tram No.922 on Princes Bridge, Melbourne, Vic.Taken in 1972 by Tyroop, used with permission.

Another memory from my Melbourne years when in August 1993 SW6.965 started carrying AOA for Australian Air Express (First Flight) in what was to be its last advertising stint. It was during this period that I captured the 1950 tram northbound on Swanston St. on the Route 08 service on May 20, 1995, which I understand terminated at Melbourne University.

Previous advertising stints were:

1988

August: Advertising Maxwells

1989

February: Advertising Channel 7

1990

April: Advertising Bushells Tea

1991

June: Advertising Daimaru

1993

February: Advertising Australia Post

In October 2005 SW6.965 was restored to original condition to be presented to Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark and Princess Mary. Then on Thursday, 10th November, 2005, SW6.965 was presented to the Danish Consul General, Jorgen Mollegaard, by the Victorian Transport Minister, Peter Batchelor, at a function at Preston Workshops.

On Tuesday, 23rd May, 2006, there was the official inauguration of "the royal tram" into the Danish Tramway Museum's fleet. The vehicle is owned by HRH Crown Prince Frederik and HRH Crown Princess Mary. The Danish Tramway Museum is located in the town of Skjoldenæsholm, about 65 kilometres southwest of Copenhagen, Denmark. The Danish Tramway Historical Society, was founded on 8 February 1965. The Society's aims are to extend knowledge of public transport in an apolitical and idealistic manner.

On Monday 28 July 1986, a 25-year-old real estate agent called Susannah "Suzy" Lamplugh disappeared without trace in the middle of the working day, having left the office of her employer Sturgis & Sons in Fulham Road, London SW6, to drive the short distance to nearby Shorrolds Road (pictured above) for a house-showing appointment.

She took her keys and purse with her, but left her handbag in the office. Her office diary recorded the essential details of the appointment: '12:45 Mr. Kipper – 37 Shorrolds Road O/S', the appended abbreviation meaning that the meeting point was outside the property.

The alarm was raised after Suzy missed an appointment later in the day and failed to return to the office. At 10 pm that evening, her white Ford Fiesta car was found abandoned outside a property for sale in Stevenage Road, about 2 km from Shorrolds Road. The vehicle, B396 GAN, was unlocked and Suzy's purse was in the door pocket. The ignition key was missing.

From the very start, the police investigation was hampered by the lack of physical evidence. And in all the years since, no further hard evidence has emerged to help solve the case. Despite the many lines of enquiry that the police have subsequently pursued, what happened to Suzy Lamplugh on that July day in 1986 remains a mystery. She was officially declared dead, presumed murdered, in 1994.

With very helpful staff.

The renowned pub to the south of Fulham, popularly known as the Sloaney Pony, does a huge selection of beers, with regular beer festivals (this photo was taken during an American Beer Festival), and great food. King's Road/Hurlingham Road, Fulham, west London. An 'ordinary' urban scene, but I liked the colours and the District Line tube train going over the bridge.

On November 10, 1993, Ray Marsh was on hand in Spring St. to capture this scene of 927 turning off Flinders St. on to the new track in Spring St. which marked the completion of the Melbourne City Circle tram route.

On that day this tram was one of the first service cars to travel on the new track.

18th July 2012 at Under the Bridge, London SW6.

The first Hammond Organ was invented by Laurens Hammond in the 1930s. Until the 1970s they were electro-mechanical instruments. They contained tonewheels which rotated beneath electromagnetic pickups. More recently they have been replaced by Clonewheel Organs, electronic instruments which emulate the sound of the electromechanical tonewheel-based organs.

This is a Hammond B-3 (first introduced in 1955 and produced until 1974). One of the most portable Hammond organs, it can be heard on many notable recordings from R and B to Gospel to Jazz.

Electronic Organs are assigned the number 5 in the Hornbostel-Sachs classification of musical instruments ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hornbostel-Sachs ), indicating:

5 = Electrophones. Sound is generated by electrical means.
