California Sunshine
What does one do while waiting in the Mojave ghost town of Cadiz for a Santa Fe 4-8-4 to appear under steam like a desert mirage? Lense the parade of modern day BNSF freights on the Transcon of course! Here is one such westbound with a nice matching three pack of GEs wearing the H2 scheme. They are approaching the Cadiz Rd. grade crossing near MP 647 on the Needles Sub. Rising beyond are the barren peaks of the Ship Mountains whose highest peaks are nearly 2500 ft above the valley floor here at track level

This image, as was yesterday's, is from the Sunshine Coast in British Columbia, Canada, a place I am visiting this weekend. A vast wilderness, accessible only by boat or ferry, although the some shorelines are dotted with homes or the occasional wilderness retreat, and there are a number of small towns, former fishing villages now dressed up for tourists.
Some of the coastal mountains are named after British lumiunaries from the past; the peaked mountain shown here is Mount Churchill.
The wildlife here is remarkable: yesterday I saw a humpback whale breeching, a pod of Orca killer whales, bald eagles, and the 20 pound salmon one of my sons landed. The day before, a black bear and her cub wandered through his back yard.
It's a paradise, although there is little sun on the Sunshine Coast.

Sunshine on Leith jumped into my head. A great feel good musical based on all the songs by the Proclaimers. I think Ullswater is a bit prettier than Edinburgh.
We headed down Glen Carron in pursuit of the mist but found only some low cloud . The frosty setting around Inver Croft made for a decent foreground to the sunlit peak of Moruisg with its own interesting cloud layer.

Sunshine wasn't allowed anything to eat last night so I thought she would like this soothing lolly and she loved it.
Sunshine and showers, I take shelter under a large old chestnut tree. In the woods on the last days of October.

Ireland seems to be one of the few places where it can be sunny and rainy simulateneously. I'm not sure if the photo does it justice but it was a tremendous sky.
Revolution in Harvesting
The Sunshine Stripper Harvester is famous for combining the functions of a stripper and winnower in one machine. In one operation it could gather and thresh the ripe heads, separate the grain from the chaff and deliver the grain for bagging. Built by H V MC Kay factory Ballarat, Victoria 1899
I composed this image today while visiting the Sunshine Coast, in British Columbia, Canada. While the Sunshine Coast is on the British Columbia mainland, it is a vast wilderness area and only accessible by boat or ferry.

Sunshine & songs from the house finch. Female rests on top of the tallest pine tree. Hmm! Added two textures, as the sky was without much variation.
Thankfully, we are seeing much more of the squirrels now after a lean period over the late summer and early autumn.
The lighting was a little tricky for this shot, but after all the rain last night, the sunshine was very welcome.
