Wow, it's a beautiful January day today. Temp's in the low 80's and a chance of butterflies and sunshine.
There are at least six monarchs flitting about along with several zebra longwings and a couple of goldrims.
The bird shows are beautiful too. The yellow-rumped warbler has made an appearance, I haven't had to opportunity to photograph one yet this year but as long as the palm warblers don't run them off, perhaps I will get a snap in a day or two.

The "Walberla" is an ancient magic hill in central Franconia and hosts the eldet sprig celebration of Germany.
The St. Walpurgis festival is held in May and the same named chapel the center of that event. Always worth to visit.

Another image from a trip out in September where the late sunshine was creating some lovely light on the far side of the Derwent Valley as it streamed through the clearing rain.

Winters have mostly been bleak and the days are almost always cloudy and boring so when a day with sunshine emerges I also emerge.
The difference a little bit of sunshine makes is unbelievable. It's like a flower was given sunlight and it just blooms.
Sunny days are the best and when you combine that with the beauty of winter it's like standing in the middle of a work of art.
This photo was taken on the lake Näsijärvi in Tampere. The ice is strong enough to support a van, so to me it's a great opportunity to take photos in an unusual location.
