an expedition with us, an experience forever…
Together we're stronger.. This Earth Hour weekend, on Saturday 31st March 2012, we'll prove it!
A mother and child hold hands as they walk along the top of the increasingly ineffective sea defences on the West coast of Mousuni Island, Sundarbans, India. The Sundarban Islands are threatened by rising tides as result of climate change and the loss of mangrove habitat - the islands natural protector. WWF is working with local people to help mitigate the effects of climate change.

It was very early in the morning when we set our feet on the ship for Sundarban. The sun was just rising and there was this amazing soft morning light that made everything look beautiful. Didn't want to miss the opportunity to document the beginning of our voyage.
Taken during TTL Safari
Location: Khulna River Port, Bangladesh
A rushed trip to Khulna and the Sundarbans with my league of extraordinary gentlemen ;) Shomik, Neuton and Aador :p they are all friends of mine who jumped onto a rent-a-car bound for Khulna on a trip planned almost overnight. Thank god I have friends who put up with my madness, because the trip was certainly way more fun than I had hoped for :)
In the south western part of Bangladesh, in the district of greater Khulna, lies the Sundarbans, "the beautiful forest." It is a virgin forest which until recently owed nothing to human endeavour and yet nature has laid it out with as much care as a planned pleasure ground. For miles and miles, the lofty treetops form an unbroken canopy, while nearer the ground, works of high and ebb-tide marked on the soil and tree trunks and the many varieties of the natural mangrove forest have much to offer to an inquisitive visitor.
Here land and water meet in many novel fashions. Wild life presents many a spectacle. No wonder, you may come across a Royal Bengal Tiger swimming across the streams or the crocodiles basking on the river banks. With the approach of the evening herds of deer make for the darking gladeswhere boisterous monkeys shower Keora leaves from above for sumptuous meal for the former. For the botanist, the lover of nature, the poet and the painter this land provides a variety of wonders for which they all crave.
