Sundarban is one of most natural beauty of beautiful Bangladesh. This Forest is the largest mangrove forest in the world. The name ‘Sundar’ meaning is "beautiful" and ‘ban’ meaning 'forest', Sundarban also called ‘beautiful forest’. Sundarban name comes from ‘Sundari Trees’ (Mangroves), a large numbers of ‘Sundari trees’ are found in Sundarbans. The Royal Bengal Tiger, deer, birds, crocodiles and snakes are main beauty of this Forest.

Juvenile birds have some feathers on the head and neck, but are conspicuously bald. Throat color, whitish. And there is no redness on the face.
Madan, the name of the god of love in Sanatan Dharma. It is said that when all the other gods, fearing an angry Shiva, did not go before him, Madanadeva, in a simple mind, went before him, to pacify Shiva, and, consumed by the fire of Shiva's eyes (panchasara), was reduced to ashes. Perhaps, due to this incident, fools or simple minded people came to be called madans.
there are so many pictures of sundarban, my pursuit to show different came out as this.
thanks for viewing it. i am still sleeping off last 5 days hectic, yet most enjoyable trip.
The very first image of mine through which I discovered my love for nature & people…the inquisitiveness about lives & life. The inner eye just popped open with this one in the Sundarbans one winter, not many eons ago. This was my first trip with a camera & magic happened that dawn while we were gliding through the mangrove forest of the Sundarbans. My heart jumped with this view in front of my eyes from our silent boat and I didn’t lose a second…like a pro I made memory of the scene. The juxtaposition of nature and people showing us the connectedness in bare awareness and still after all this we are annihilating ourselves with our selfish desires.
there is a tower right before we started to trek in the forest. the view from above is awesome. i don't think my photo did justice to the actual view that can be seen from there.
maybe if you press "L". it would look a bit better.
thank you for viewing it.

Sundarbans, The largest single block of tidal halophytic mangrove forest in the world, located in the southwestern part of Bangladesh. It lies on the Ganges-Brahmaputra Delta at the point where it merges with the Bay of Bengal. It is also a center of economic activities, such as extraction of timber, fishing and collection of honey. The forest consists of about 200 islands, separated by about 400 interconnected tidal rivers, creeks and canals.
The nature of Sundarbans is really so different and so so amazing to enjoy. I think it is really unmatched by its God gifted incredible features. Every traveler in the world should make a visit to our Sundarbans for once minimum in their lifetime, not but it will be a subject of great affliction to life.

The life endures onslaughts of cyclones, tidal waves and tiger attacks in Sundarbans, West Bengal, India
There are about 80 different species of mangrove trees. All of these trees grow in areas with low-oxygen soil, where slow-moving waters allow fine sediments to accumulate. Mangrove forests only grow at tropical and subtropical latitudes near the equator because they cannot withstand freezing temperatures.
Many mangrove forests can be recognized by their dense tangle of prop roots that make the trees appear to be standing on stilts above the water. This tangle of roots allows the trees to handle the daily rise and fall of tides, which means that most mangroves get flooded at least twice per day. The roots also slow the movement of tidal waters, causing sediments to settle out of the water and build up the muddy bottom.
Mangrove forests stabilize the coastline, reducing erosion from storm surges, currents, waves, and tides. The intricate root system of mangroves also makes these forests attractive to fishes and other organisms seeking food and shelter from predators.

The Sundarbans (Bengali: সুন্দরবন, Shundorbôn) is the largest single block of tidal halophytic salt-tolerant mangrove forest in the world. The Sundarbans provides a unique ecosystem and a rich wildlife habitat. According to the 2011 tiger census, the Sundarbans have about 270 Royal Bengal Tigers (Panthera tigris tigris). The Sundarbans became inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997 and has also been enlisted among the finalists in the New7Wonders of Nature.

The Sentinel-2A satellite takes us over the very eastern part of the Sundarbans in Bangladesh, in this natural-colour image.
A region comprising southern Bangladesh and a small part of the Indian state of west Bengal, the whole area of the Sundarbans incorporates some 10 000 sq km, consisting of mangrove and swamp forests.
The region of the Sundarbans appears in dark shades of green in this image, while the adjacent areas in brighter colours are densely populated and dominated by agriculture.
Sundarbans is the world’s largest single chunk of tidal halophytic mangrove forest. Generally, fresh water is required for plants, but these mangrove forests can also thrive in saline water.
This area lies on the Bay of Bengal, the world’s largest bay. A number of large rivers – including the Ganges, its tributaries and various other rivers, all flow into its waters, forming the Ganges–Brahmaputra Delta.
The erosional forces of the sea and wind along the coast continuously mould the landscape, together with the huge amounts of silt and other sediments, deposited in the countless estuaries, visible in the water. Distinct throughout the image, the network of these estuaries, tidal rivers and creeks, criss-crossed by numerous channels, enclose flat, densely forested, marshy islands and agricultural plots.
Most of the delta is composed of alluvial soils made up of fine sediment that settles to the bottom as river currents slow in the estuary. The soil has large amounts of minerals and nutrients, ideal for agriculture.
These fertile floodplains host jute, tea and rice – the major crops grown in the Ganges Delta, visible as brighter patches on the land areas in the right part of the image. Fishing is also an important activity, and a major source of food for many of the inhabitants of the various towns, which we can see along the brighter areas.
The Sundarbans National Park, established in 1984 and a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a core region within the Bengal Tiger Reserve. The almost extinct Bengal tiger is the national animal of Bangladesh and is considered the second largest tiger in the world.
