This was one of many exciting stops on my first 'food tour of Cornwall' with the lovely Laura and Kieran (both of whom are involved with Tasting Britain as writers, and both of whom I now count as good friends).
Opened in 2015, MONO is a musical venue, kitchen (but not a restaurant) and bar - right in the heart of glorious Falmouth, on Killigrew Street. They've not been here all that long, but seem to have established themselves as a cool spot - think a spot for album launch parties, young'ns in skinny jeans (etc) - there's a bit of an East London feel to it. We didn't actually get to see the musical area (which I think is upstairs) but I'm assuming there's a similar feel to it.
In terms of food and drink, Tasting Britain were invited down (in trio form...) to see how the 'kitchen residency' is going. They've brought in local lads Angus & Mitchell - who've created a menu that focuses quite heavily on toast and the many things that you can do with toast. Also since this is Cornwall there is seafood too. Delicious oysters. I think my favouritest thing was the venison tartar (on toast, obviously). I don't really eat toast, but this is probably the best toasted thing I've experienced yet. TOAST IS THE FUTURE. They also had Ardbeg's Uigeadail, which is, of course, only a good thing.

Waterlogged pitches at Southampton's Wide Lane playing ground caused the Rugby and Softball to be cancelled and the Football to be delayed.
All worked out well though and it wasn't long before the rain stopped.

Stopped for water - Zpacks Arc Haul backpack. The Sawyer Squeeze water filter is a great improvement over the Sawyer mini. Filtering water is almost a pleasure. Now I carry less water and top up more often. Copyright © 2020 Gary Allman, all rights reserved.
